Another anime I rewatched after many years. Its one who's content I had forgotten about but it always remained in the back of my head. So I decided to rewatch it ..

This anime is a feast for the senses. The visuals are stunning, the accompanying music is magical and almost haunting. I could say with confidence that the opening is one of my fav in anime. The enigma of Cosette herself is captivating. It really felt like watching a painting come to life at times.

Now I would say that the anime isn't amazing, plus I think there were too many side characters that felt ... unnecessary for such a short anime. Like, the story could have been told with just the main 2 people plus maybe 1 other person to witness the downfall of the main character slowly deteriorating

Personally I wouldn't recommend this anime for the sole reason of not disappointing people who mag be looking for a more straightforward story. But I would mention it in passing conversation and let the person discover it themselves if they so feel.

Decided to rewatch this anime as i remember it being good but couldnt remember much about its contents. This is an anthology series so each episode contains a new story with new characters (except for last 2 or 3 episodes), all tied together with an overarching story about an author who bumps into a trio of beings? Who go around Japan to exorcise spirits that have committed sin.

So honestly, the characters weren't that memorable except maybe Mataichi and the animation style could be somewhat off putting as they mixed traditional anime style with 3d textures at some points. However the anime was strong where ... it mattered most and that was the story/ies. The episodic stories had some great plot twists and grotesque imagery that worked really well with some of the horrifying story details. Some of my favourites include The Willow Woman and The Floating head as well as Salty Chouji. The ending of the anime was also great.

The anime is quite short and I don't think minor criticisms should affect you watching it so if you are a horror fan with the taste for some great short horror stories, I would recommend this series. I also see myself rewatching it in the future

The first season of Higurashi is broken down in story arcs. Each arc usually starts off by treating the viewers to a delightful scene of brutal murder.. and then the next couple of episodes go on to show how we got the that point.

We're introduced to the world of Higurashi through the eyes of the main character Keiichi. He has just moved into the village of Hinamizawa and introduces it to us with the limited knowledge he has about it. Unfortunately for him, things start taking a sharp sharp dive downwards after the villages murderous past is revealed to him. Suddenly these cheerful friends of ... his seem alien, the friendly village is no longer welcoming, talk of curses and deaths start to taint the world for him and us.

As a horror fan, this anime is perfect for me personally as it contains enough murder, paranoia, conspiracies and curses to keep me interested.

Is it the best anime ever made? Nope but it is MY favourite anime of all time but JUST the first season. S1 is mysterious, supernatural and cursed whereas S2 tries to explain everything in a more scientific manner and although I did like the season, the explanation to things made me like the story a little less as it takes away the fear factor.
So I tend to ignore its existence.

I've watched the show (S1 + S2) about 3 times already. And I still love it. And yes nostalgia may be a factor in that considering its one of the first animes I ever watched however recent rewatches haven't changed my opinion so yeah. Love it!

I think the main criticisms for this manga are that the stories are too short and there isn't enough time for character development and yes these are true however, I find the stories are more like camp fire ghost stories that are meant to be short but entertaining and I personally think it does that really well. Approach the stories like short campfire ghost stories and you'll enjoy it better

Definately one to read before bed when you need a small dose of horror but not something you want to spend all day on as it doesn't need too much of your concentration

One negative about the ... length of stories is that a few were too short to even understand what was happening and a few of the stories did seem repetitive but since they were so short, it didn't matter as a new story was just a page or two away..
