Perhaps the most done rec in this new season, Fairy Tail and One Piece! The first and most obvious similarity, is STYLE. The character drawings, emotion-depicting faces, and character personalities are very similar to each other which is due to the fact that both creators went to the same art school! Luffy and Natsu are both clueless about what goes on around them, but both are overwhelming powerful when serious. Both storm the word "NAKAMA," and care deeply for their companions, close, if not closer, than family. The most common similarity are the eye-pop comedic faces. Whenever something very surprising or unexpected pops up, the characters' eyes will pop out of their heads. Storyline doesn't have much in common, but both are long-term (OP's longer however) and both are equally comical and epic.

Two of the main-story related characters, Tasha and Natsu relate with very similar characteristics and personalities, especially their ability to grow stronger through their emotions, and they both have a partner whom they share a close relationship, like a close family. The main teams consist of a group that have known each other for a long period of time, at times being quite crude and violent with one another (Almost everytime, this is for comedic purposes), but in each group, the team are as close as family, willing to protect each other with their lives. [PS: If you haven't read Fairy Tail, then I would recommend that you read Witch Hunter first. It's better to start off with the serious/moderately comedy, then heading for epic/highly comedic.]

Katekyou Hitman Reborn!

1) Both are long-term manga/animes with stories separated into arcs. Gintama's arcs are quick, terse, but are often very fulfilling and tear jerking at times. Katekyou Hitman Reborn, personally, has my favorite story, but there have only been 2 arcs, both of which take up long periods of time. 2) Both include a lot of comedy, action, epicness, but Gintama also does parodies. Gintama is the better comedy anime, but KHR is more epic. 3) Both are able to amass all of its genres perfectly at different times, at times making you laugh until your stomach flips over, or shed tears at certain arcs. And the best part of it all? Most of it is still very entertaining even after watching the entire series, or a certain arc over and over, but this accounts more to Gintama than Reborn, mostly because Gintama's main point is its amazing comedy and parody and even the Legendary Gintama TROLL&4th Wall Breaker, while Reborn focuses on character development, epic music, and a wonderful storyline.
