4/10-On one hand this series is written very poorly, none of the characters are likable and the author has no idea where to take the plot, but the art and gore is phenomenal and it's undeniably fun to see what crazy direction it goes in next, so it could be worse. From the five volumes I read the story is mostly your average slasher fare but written by an author with some very obvious emotional hang ups and a seemingly detached sense of how the world works. The unofficial translation by Chillock is incredibly edgy and unfunny so I would recommend the guro-man translation if

Kudan no Gotoshi is by far the most interesting manga I’ve read during my recent horror fiction late night deep dives. What starts out as something that could be considered Japans answer to Final Destination (just replace death himself with bovine themed Yōkai) slowly but surely evolves (or devolves depending on your perspective) into a truly odd story that cannot fully commit to a single idea for more than a few chapters.
