In both animes we follow the life of an immortal protaganiste learning to deal wwith their own emotions and the emotions felt by others. The immmortality of the MC is a great pretext to dive into the realm of perspectives and what it means to be human wih its ups and down. Although both animes arehave generally a feel good vibe, they wont shy away from more sad and depressive plot elements.

Both show start with the same situation: an underaged girl is sheltered by some non-related older person. Throughout both show, you'll learn to like this situation and the outine that is setting up even if it's illegal and you'll wich for it to last forever. They also explore some kind of childhood traumas although in different ways. However, Hige wo soru takes place in a more realistic univers than Happy Sugar Life because in HSL most of the characters are crazy.

In the two animes we follow the adventures of a protagonist considered to be "evil". In Yuukoku no Moriarty our main character is a criminal and Tanya from youjo senki can do everything to achieve her goals. But throughout the anime there mentality is explained so well that you are forced to reassess your previous judgement. Both of the MCs are fighting against powerful entities thanks to their above average intellect : god in Youjo senki and the nobility in Yuukoku no Moriarty. But what’s the most enjoyable in those show is the attention to details just on example out of many: -Blue eyes for Holmes vs the Red eyes of Moriarty -Tanya’s eyes turning to a golden colour (colour of glory divinity) when she is praying As a conclusion they’re both masterpieces that deserves to be watched
