Fun. That's what this movie is. It isn't a romantic journey like Howls' moving castle or an adventure
quite like Laputa, but somehow it hits an enjoyment that other anime movies I've watched can't.
Story - 9/10
I love a good heist story! Nothing complex, but there was nice mystery, exploration and I personally loved how it was tied into the bloodlines of Clarrese and the Duke.
Art - 8/10
It's definitely a bit dated. But I can't help but love how charming the old animation is - and there are actually some incredible sequences such as the car chase that I'd argue hold up today. How many chases

Sound - 9/10
A very fitting, charming, exciting soundtrack. It's unique and jazzy.
Characters - 10/10
Characters is Lupin's greatest strength. The cast has very unique dynamics - although they may lack profound complexity, they're just likeable and fun to hang with!

Note
I usually only write reviews for anime or manga that I enjoy, so that I can hopefully convince someone to watch or read it and share my enjoyment for it. But when I looked at the reviews and watched Flavours of Youth, I felt the landscape of reviews misrepresented this movie too much.
Stories - 2/10
The stories were not interesting. You can try to reach for an abstract meaning or personal interpretation of each story, but it was as if they were thought up in a second and based around a singular line. "Guy nostolgically eats noodles" "Clothing industry lady gets hurt" "Idk love romance sadness
...
or something" and then they went to work.
Art - 9/10
Undoubtedly the best part of this anime. It looks amazing, I like the character designs a lot, and it has fluent animation. No complaints here.
Sound - 7/10
Not remarkable but nice. Good.
Characters - 1/10
I challenge fans of this movie to name one trait of any of these characters. The best I can do is the first guy likes noodles and the last guy likes architecture. Anything else is reaching, speculation and interpretation like modern art. All we knew about the second woman was that she liked her sister and they lived together, and then they have a random dramatic fight over sowing or something. It was pointless drama created for nothing, as if it were based on a 7-year-olds' sibling rivalry hissy-fit.
Enjoyment - 3/10
2/10 for the art. I'm a fan of good animation, but it can't save a bad story. It was nigh unbearable to sit through this anime, it felt like it lasted for an eternity - like hell, or death.
Overall - 1/10
I'm not a Makoto Shinkai fan, so when I learnt his incredibly great studio Comic Wave Films was animating something from a different director I was ecstatic. However, I ended up liking it even less due to zero thought on characters, story and direction. Unfortunate and a waste of beautiful animation to say the least.

Story - 10
The story of Berserk isn't some wondrously creative masterpiece like Made in Abyss, nor even particularly unique or individualistic like Mononoke. No, it isn't that which Berserk excels at; it's a somewhat straightforward story, executed so masterfully that anything other than a ten would be heresy. Part of Kentaro's mastery of storytelling is in his pacing - although not all arcs are perfectly paced (The conviction arc drags on a little, for example), his pacing can make you feel like an arc was unbelievably elaborate for how short it was.
Art - 10
Berserk has good art. We know that. But it isn't that simple.

Berserk's legendary art is due in part to incredible panelling, (which tend to have fewer but larger panels than other manga) which is the equivalent to a movies' direction. These larger panels make Berserk feel more refined and easier and more enjoyable to follow. The art also isn't exclusive to big battle scenes, not only is it incredibly frequent and consistent, but it has nuanced emotional art that truly tells more than words.
Characters - 10
I loved the protagonists and how they were written. But what surprised me was two main things; side characters, such as Luca and Nina having very complex desires and battles within themselves, and also the way that characters are written to interact with each other. It doesn't feel like they've just "chucked" together into a manga and all love each other because they were written to be a group, they're individuals who have drifted together almost at random.
Enjoyment - 10
Some of the double or single paged spreads (or even some smaller panels!) made me squeal with happiness. Yet Berserk isn't just a pretty manga or a slugfest. It's a masterpiece of a journey that I'm so happy to have experienced.

I went into Steel Ball Run very sceptical, as I do all Jojo parts. I'd just come off of part 6, which was said to be terrible, and absolutely loved it. Part 7, being in a different universe and with different characters (as usual) had to prove itself to me. How could it match up to the legacy of the first six parts?
I soon found it was unfair to compare it to the other parts; I loved part 4, part 5 was amazing, and part 6 was incredible... but Steel Ball Run was a legitimate masterpiece.
Story: 10

would love a horse race so much, but the plot is just far better crafted than previous parts. It's truly a coming of age story, whereas other parts put the story to the side and instead focus on great characters and fights. There's so much focus on Johnny's growth, mystery, yearning and regret. It is a genuinely moving piece of literature with themes and emotions.
Art: 10
I know rating every category a 10 like this just makes me seem like a fanboy, but this art is up there with the best. It isn't as picture-Esque as Vagabond, not as skillfully detailed as Berserk.
But it's tough to come by art of this quality, and Araki spend his time gifted from his monthly schedule on more beautiful double-paged spreads. And although the complaints of "same face syndrome" began with this part, I believe it's a purposeful shift in a more model-like art-style by Araki and I think it looks great.
Characters: 9.5
I was considering a 9 for this category, because although I absolutely love Johnny and Gyro, I felt like it could have benefitted with a few more characters in the main cast. They felt like the only two, whereas in previous parts we'd have 5-6. Nonetheless, it's clearly a choice Araki made and all the characters in this part are far more complex emotionally, and far more determined. Thinking about it, this journey between Gyro, Johnny, and us, the Viewer, may have been spoiled with more comrades. It was so personal.
Enjoyment: 10
As you can tell, I loved it. The hype was truly built up in the finale, which was incredibly satisfying. The fights were incredibly crafted, and I loved the stands. The "reveals" or perhaps "plot twists" were the best in this part by far, perhaps trumped by part 8 later on. Parts 1-6 didn't have enough weight to have these reveals be important and meaningful.
Overall: 10
The previous parts were great. This was a masterpiece.
