Ah, Drifters. I've been excited for this.
As a lot of people have mentioned, it has a real Hellsing feel, especially Ultimate, some people may love that about it and some may not. Personally, since Ultimate is one of my all time favourites, I love it.
The art is dark and sharp, which fits the feel of the anime perfectly.
Toyohisa Shizamu is fighting for his clan when he is fatally wounded and from then on he's consistently confused. He appears in a place with a man that sends him through a door, on the brink of death he's found by a pair of villagers who carry
...
him to where they think he may belong.
He wakes up to meet Nobunaga Oda and Yoichi Suketaka Nasu, both of which upon learning their names he remembers, but one died 18 years ago and the other over 400 years ago, so instead of his questions being answered he's left more confused than before.
It's not all death, blood and guts. They make the effort to have comedic parts where they fit perfectly and give you nice little laughs.
The feel of uprising and war is great, you find yourself anxious, anticipating what the Drifters and other parties will do. What will be the next move? What is the point of all this and why are they here?
If you don't enjoy gore, more so excessive blood, you probably won't enjoy this. But if you love a good blood splatter then you'll definitely enjoy it.
I was really impressed and I'm glad it lived up to my expectations. The characters are great, you feel the eras they came from in how they act and speak, yet they mesh together nicely and even though they may clash, they respect each other. The hilarity of their minor conflicts is mixed in perfectly and made me love each of them even more.
The action carries all the way through, building up to the ending which leaves you satisfied yet excited for the second season. The war has just begun, and it will be incredible.

Yuri!!! on Ice,
I've been looking forward to watching this for a while now, and maybe it's my expectations that gave me the ending opinions I have on this, or maybe it's just how good it is.
I was impressed with this from the very beginning, the opening had me excited for what I was getting into. The song, the animation for it.
The characters were great as soon as I met them, there's been a lot of hype about this so it's surprising that they met the expectations that had been built up for me, yet without even knowing what I should be expecting?
The animation
...
is gorgeous, as is the character design. The contrast between Yuuri, Yuri(o) and Victor is fantastic, they're individual from each other, yet you can still pick up their similarities.
Yuuri has his dreams of ice skating and they seemed to be slipping away from him, but he always held onto his inspiration whom was Victor. So he's incredibly surprised when Victor suddenly appears saying he wants to coach Yuuri. Watching the relationship between the two of them evolve is one of my favourite parts of this series, obviously one of the big deals about this is the possible yaoi undertones, which I fully support between the two of them.
This is possibly the very first sport anime I've watched, they're generally not something I enjoy, but I had a lot of fun watching this. It's not all sport, yes it's the main subject but there's enough substance in other things to draw you in. I think I'll actually make an effort to watch other sports anime now that I've watched this, it's shown me how interesting and engrossing they can be.
You really feel like you're going through the events with them, you tense up wondering whether the person is going to pull off their move or make a mistake, you anticipate what their scores will be and where they'll place in the rankings. It does an incredibly good job of sucking you into the world, and it's exactly where I wanted to be.
I was actually sad it ended where it did, I wanted more. But there's such a thing of too much of a good thing and it's good it ended, though with the tease of the possibility of more which is exciting. I loved watching this, it charmed me and I can see why it's so popular. If you enjoy sports, or even if you don't, this is something that should go on your list of things to watch.. Sooner rather than later.

Shuumatsu no Izetta,
Without looking into the potential hidden meanings behind the plot of WWII and the countries involved, seeing the majority of reviews for this being bad and the anime leaving people unimpressed, I was more than curious to see why.
The war feel is done well. It feels old and the characters look the way they should to fit into that era.
Finé is fighting to try and save her country, while doing so she comes across someone familiar, Izetta.
They're both ecstatic to find each other again and Izetta wants nothing more than to help and protect her Princess, with whatever it may be.
She
...
may be the only one that can save Elystadt, using her incredibly strong magic, deep care for the Princess and what she believes in.
The potential for this was great, it could have been fantastic with the mix of genres. War and magic. It moves slowly though, which is one of the bad things. Slowly suits some things, war.. not so much.
Though it is slow it does feel like it's building up to something, whether it be resolve or something to carry into another season. The ending is worth the wait.
The relationship between Izetta and Finé is sweet, it's business orientated but also Finé obviously cares for her a lot, as does Izetta in return. When she's feeling like she doesn't belong Finé does her best to comfort her and care for her, knowing if it were the other way around she would be treated the same. The way the friendship between them is portrayed even with their situation and it being war does make it feel more like it's not just war, there's relationships and love which shows what they're fighting for.
Even though it feels a little disconnected through the episodes, going in and out of actually focusing on the war and time just seeming to pass, it was enjoyable to watch. The story is interesting and could have excelled beyond what it is, but even so, what it achieved was still good. I was hopeful for possible ladylove between Finé and Izetta.
In the end I liked watching it, but I can understand the misgivings others didn't enjoy about it.

This review may be a bit short so please excuse that, I reviewed the first 'season' or 'part' but really it should be watched and reviewed as a whole.
My review for the first part had a decent amount of cons, eg. the characters being unreliable. Swapping from being scared in the beginning, which is completely understandable, then being strong, but then they would bounce back to being scared and strong and it just repeated. That left me being kind of unimpressed with the first 'season'. But, having watched this, it doesn't get rid of how they were in the first half, but this half is
...
much better.
Kei is fighting for his life and so are his new friends and acquaintances.
Some of the things in this are a lot more intense, especially the Buddha Temple mission. That on it's own was better than the first half entirely. That's what makes me regret not reviewing it as a whole and doing it as the seasonal parts it's split into. It really needs to be considered a whole, as that's what it is. Between the two there is no break.
If you decide to watch Gantz, make sure to take that into account.
This half doesn't hold back on the blood and gore, surprisingly there's probably more than before. The characters develop to a place where they're enjoyable and the good points of the first half carry over, like the intensity of everything, how rough and raw it is, the blood and guts.
The plot for the entire series is entertaining, different and a great idea.
It's dark and when it gets into it, can have you sitting there in anticipation wondering what could happen next.
It is a good series, it has it's flaws that stop it from being as great as it could be. The very end is a bit confusing and just flat. It doesn't end answering any questions, it just gives you more. Though I don't regret watching it because I still enjoyed it as a whole even with the flaws.
If you enjoy dark, bloody and strange, then I'm sure you'll enjoy Gantz.

Gantz is an older series, but that doesn't stop it from being a great watch.
It's really rough, language wise, the character type and just general feel of the show. It's not gentle at all. It's dark and gets intense pretty quickly.
Lots of blood, gore and violence which is part of why I enjoyed it, but other people may not. It's not just little bits, it's pretty in your face stuff. So if you're touchy with those kinds of things, it could be best to avoid it, but on the other hand if you're like me and love that stuff, I'm sure you'll love Gantz.
Kei Kuruno
...
suddenly and very unexpectedly finds an old friend, Masaru Katou. They end up in a room with strangers sitting, waiting to see if anybody else appears from a big black ball in the center of the room. Which sounds crazy, and it is.
The two friends then end up being the ones to look after Kei Kishimoto whom also appears out of nowhere.
They suddenly find themselves in a strange killing game, but not of the normal kind.
The plot is interesting and unusual. It's not fast paced or slow, it floats around the middle. Though with that being the case, it keeps you interested since you're learning what's going on along the way.
The characters can be a little frustrating, going from being scared to strong and confident and then dropping back again.
(The kid especially drove me nuts)
Overall it is enjoyable. If you like different, sci-fi mixed with supernatural and lots of blood and guts. It was worth watching and I'll definitely continue to the second season.

Kore wa Zombie Desu ka? or, Is This a Zombie?
Poor Ayumu was killed by a serial killer and brought back to life by a necromancer, Eucliwood Hellscythe or Eu/Yuu for short whom now lives with him.
He's not your general zombie, he's just like any other human, besides the fact he cannot die.
Then he meets Haruna which makes things even more difficult for him.
As he meets more girls it just continues that same pattern. Following with Seraphim and Yuki.
Ayumu himself has goals to fulfill since he got a second chance and he's trying his hardest to get there.
The anime from the beginning has
...
the feeling it's just supposed to be ridiculous and crazy, not serious at all. Something fun and entertaining, simple to just sit down and watch the whole season. And that's partly what it is, I liked it more than I thought I would.
It's not all just laughs and ridiculous things happening, there is a plot and it can get pretty deep which is a great contrast to the rest of it.
It all comes together really well which is why it's so good.
The little imaginary talking parts for Eu are fantastic, it gives it a perfect perverted vibe and I love that.
It's definitely Ecchi and Harem, lots of fan service and naughty jokes. It's put together really well, I laughed a lot.
This is something I'll definitely recommend to people, it was really fun to watch and for a weird, crazy plot it works.
Episode 12 fantastic. Seriously.

Here we are with season two.
It starts a month after the previous and it seems things have gone back to normal, Tooka and Yoshino are living with Shidou in the complex Kotori had built for them all.
This season feels a little different from the other in the beginning but it all comes back together pretty quickly.
With two less episodes than the prior it feels a little rushed at some points and things seem to be just happening for the sake of filling episodes.
The comedy is the same as before, still decent amounts of panty shots and cute girls which are easy to like.
There
...
is two new Spirits though, Yuzuru and Kaguya plus Miku.
I was hoping that with the new season it would continue on with Kurumi, learning more about her and seeing what happens with the desires she was for Shidou. So I was a bit disappointed that what seemed to be a main plot point was just brushed aside.
Trying to put the two seasons together, it fits just because it's the same characters and they carried the main points of the story over, Shidou helping Spirits and the organizations involved, but from where the first season was going at the end and it being continued in this season, it really doesn't happen. I think the main feeling of that is the situation with Kurumi. It should have been a lot more prominent and then everything would have come together a lot better.
Hopefully with a third season that will all be addressed.
Saying all of that though, I did enjoy what it all built up to and I'll definitely watch more if there is another season. Just the disconnect ruined how much I enjoyed the first season compared to this sadly.

We're introduced to Shidou being traumatized by his sister Kotori, panty shots included. Though, it's obvious he doesn't really mind.
Straight away you get the feeling it's supposed to feel just ridiculous and fun, which it is.
Shidou is given a strange new job, finding the Spirits and making them fall in love with him so they can be free to live relatively normal. It's not going to be as easy as everyone thinks it will be.
I was constantly amused, it kept me really entertained and it's a really easy yet enjoyable time. It has an interesting concept. Very similar to the usual harem, but
...
with Shidou trying his best to save the Spirits and actually caring, it adds a nice feel to it all. The friendships they all make with the little strange relationship parts are great.
The character development with the Spirits and Shidou himself is done well. You see them learn about each other, the world and how things should normally be.
It's not as straightforward as just making the Spirits love him and it's done, there's more put into it and other points of story as well.
The addition of Kurumi was definitely a good move, she's the darkness the anime needed to get to the level it is. She adds a great presence and gives it the perfect twist.
It's hard to explain exactly why I enjoyed it so much, I think because it's a common mix of harem and comedy, a guy with girls that love him and he tries to please them all as much as possible. But then there's the dark side, with the Spirits and the past of the characters like Shidou, the way everything comes together, being serious when it needs to be then at other times easily keeping the comedic feel.
I really enjoyed watching it and I can't wait to see what happens next.

I was pretty excited when I saw the second season announced, and now that it's here I couldn't wait to watch it.
The second season of Ajin: Demi-Human.
Firstly, the art is still the same different style, which I'm really glad they didn't try change. The difference is unique, it adds to the interest and it really suits the anime in general. It's a darker anime and it's displayed that way very well.
Kei is still running, fighting for his life with his new friend Kou.
Kaito, or Kai is still separated from his friend whom he wants to protect. Since Kei discovered he's an Ajin he's
...
had nothing but trouble but luckily he has had Kai to help him, most of the time.
Satou is fighting back the way he thinks is best and Yuu is just as determined to catch him, and all Ajin's as ever.
Like before, though more-so now, it's hard to know who to support. Each has their own good reasons, even though now they've been sucked in so far that it's not really visible in their goals anymore. Things by each person are mainly being done for selfish reasons which isn't a usual occurrence so it adds to the great dark feel the anime has.
The darkness is what's alluring about this series to me. It's consistent and done well.
The relationship between Kei and Yuu is interesting, the hate between them coming through while they're trying to work together and trust each other is very unexpected, but a great twist.
Since the characters all come together it's exciting, though curious to see how they all mesh together and what sorts of relationships they build.
The story building feels a little slow, there are things happening to build up to the bigger points, it's just taking a little bit. It's not terrible since you're taking the time to see preparations and learn more about Ajin's, characters and other situations. Once it gets to the big points it's good, the build up was worth it and it sucks you right into the story.
It's a great follow-up from the first season, it kept on the same track and connects smoothly. The ending was incredible, with really nice goosebumps moments. It stays to it's point, keeps you interested in what story it has to tell and does it pretty perfectly. I'm looking forward to the very possible third season.

Magi: The Kingdom of Magic,
Having watched both The Adventures of Sinbad and The Labyrinth of Magic I was really excited to carry on to this. The Magi series is fantastic and really enjoyable.
This season picks up where the first left us, Aladdin, Alibaba, Morgiana and Hakuryuu completed the dungeon and have gathered back together with Sinbad in Sindria.
They've grown a lot since arriving there, but it's coming to the time where they need to set off on their next adventures.
You get to see them grow separately and together in this season which is really nice. They keep their promises of adventuring together, though they
...
also set out for their goals alone. Seeing them go off by themselves but always striving to make the others proud adds a lot to the feeling of the anime. They maintain their close friendship even while miles apart.
You get to see them learn a lot more about themselves and become stronger, mainly with the goal of being able to protect each other and all the good people they've become friends with along the way.
Aladdin is just as pervy as always. Seeing him make friends with Titus and Sphintus is great, he gathers friends that are very similar to each other. They all have something to fight for.
I do wish there was more of a focus on what Alibaba and Morgiana were doing while they were all separated. Finding out there was a year gap toward the end, it didn't feel that way at all which gave it a bit of a disconnect. If it was portrayed better time-wise then that would have been good, but you can see the amount of time reflected in the growth of their powers so that kind of makes up for it.
The battles in this felt a lot greater, with the amount of people and armies battling and also how much stronger they've become.
Seeing everybody gather at the end was really impressive and one of those great goosebumps moments.
This season was a bit better than the first in some ways, like stronger story and growth.
It all came together really well and the end trails off so there's a possibility of another season which is great. It was really fun and exciting to watch and I'm very hopeful for more.
