Blushing vulnerable Reinhard was one of the funniest things ever. Certainly not something you thought you'd ever see. It was really interesting though. Love that episode.
Glad most of the stuff came back to you. Was worried that such a long break would hurt your overall opinion of the show since it kills the flow.
I guess one reason for watching the way you do would be knowing the sport. Though I also know the sport and don't care about those little things, so...yeah. lol It's a TV show and they have to use certain devices in order to build character, story and a relationship between the viewer and said characters. Most of the time it requires some sacrifice of realism to achieve that, and that's why we as viewers have to practice "suspension of disbelief." Though I'm sure you knew all that. =P
The punch-taking thing is funny since there are a lot of real boxers who fight that way. Sometimes it's ugly and lame, and sometimes it's what gets the job done for them (though their careers will likely be shortened because of it lol). One of my favorites when I first got into boxing was Juan Baby Bull Diaz. He's an in-fighter who takes a beating in every fight. It's just the way he does things, but at the same time he's able to deal a lot of damage of his own. He can take the punishment and because of that he usually wins. Sure, I'd like to see him develop more defense (defensive types and all around well-rounded boxers are usually my favorite even if their fights aren't always that exciting), but he is what he is. So fighters like Ippo aren't unrealistic at all. Ippo does win with skill but you should keep in mind that he is an unrefined up-and-coming novice who is learning his craft. I've only seen the TV series so I'm wondering myself how much better he'll get in the new episodes. I'm personally looking forward to it.
??? Been giving Ippo another shot? Well would you look at that. =D
Yep, all his fights were hard-fought as an up and comer. But now he has tougher competition ahead for him. You just never know how some of the fights will end. It makes it great because Ippo is easy to root for so it's like you're cheering as if it were real. For me, anyway. Slam Dunk did the same thing to me.
I need to start rewatching it myself so I can start watching the NEW season. Never thought I'd get to see more. Good times.

How is it jumping in again after such a long break? Do you remember everything? lol
Hopefully you still remember what was going on if you ever do finish it off. lol
Merry Christmas to you too.
I was planning on posting this on the one year anniversary but I missed it. lol
Just sayin'. =P

And thanks for the birthday wish!
