Why do you watch anime where the protagonist is reborn into a fantasy world of magic and swords? To see his so called "realistic" struggle with the mental trauma? No. We watch it to get away from our shitty world to a fantasy world where the dominant protagonist goes through an adventure and comes on top. If we wanted to watch a person struggle with a mental trauma then we will go to some drama series.
In this season the writer was all out of ideas I guess. Because of that this shit season was made.
If you are here for my opinion on this season then
...
as you can guess I have dropped this shit and moving on to some other anime where overpowered protagonist does some awesome things. Which will be less of a mindfuck than this.

I have seen a few movies which deal with the heavy subject of death, getting grips with upcoming death and it's effect on the people closest to the person before and after the death. This movie provides another perspective on this same subject.
Every person reacts in a different way to certain event in their life. Haruki, the protagonist of the movie, lives his life alone. He goes through his everyday life with minimum interactions with other people. He finds solace in the world of books which is predictable, convenient and non-judgemental. Basically he has zero experience in reacting to people. And when he accidentally finds
...
out that one of his classmate, Sakura, is going to die because of terminal disease, he finds it difficult to comprehend and to react to this information. This movie is about how Haruki learns to react to people, interact with them, coming to terms with and to enjoy the unpredictability of people and finally to comprehend the seriousness of the situation Sakura is facing as her life is ending in-front of her eyes.
Basically this is coming off age story of Haruki.
In life when faced with terminal disease people face difficulty in deciding how to behave in front of others. Whether they should put up a brave front so that others around them will feel at ease, whether they should accept the jumble of emotions (anger, fear, sorrow, hope) and express them to others or whether to run away from this situation and try to forget the sad truth by either doing the things they wanted to do all their life or hiding the truth from everyone and interacting normally with everyone around them. When faced with same situation, Sakura, the female protagonist, chooses the last options. Through the movie she transitions through all the above stages as she experiences different situations with Haruki.
She tries to find normalcy in this hopeless situation by sticking with Haruki who has yet to understand the severity of Sakura's situation and thus ends up reacting normally the news of her terminal disease. With different situations throughout the movie these two characters grow as a human being. I found it beautiful and sad. At the end of the movie when Haruki cried his heart out I felt multiple emotions flowing through me.
I enjoyed this movie. I will definitely recommend this movie to everyone.

I didn't like this anime which you can obviously guess from the score. But I couldn't resist an urge to write this review to get it out of my system. So basically consider this review as a rant from an angry badminton lover. I have watched quite a few sports anime. So before I start this review let me note few lines for the two anime I like the most. Feel free to skip to the "Review part" for actual review.

Few months ago me watching Haikyuu: Wow even though as usual these guys are focusing on flashy impossible moves like smashes, I am loving this
...
show because even with these non-realistic moves to capture the audiences they are significantly focusing on the defense as well as strategic elements of the game. Few episodes in OMG net-blocks, strategy to avoid them, analyzing and covering their holes in their game awesome I am loving this Anime as well as these awesome characters.
Some time after, while starting anime "Baby steps" me talking to myself: I don't think any sport anime will try to cover technical, mental and physical aspects of a sport because their main aim is to entertain people who otherwise will not watch the actual sport. So similar to myriad of Tennis anime this will be the usual emotional cliche sport anime which will never come close to Haikyuu. Few episodes in: WTH is going on there is no way people will like this kind of detailed story but I am loving it. After few more episodes: This is too much of sport technicalities even for me to handle. After finishing 306 chapters of manga: Me watching and reading this story was the best decision of my life. I wish there was a similar story about badminton.
Me today browsing through MAL: OMGGGGGG there is an anime about badminton. Awesoooooom. I am fu*king excited.

Review:
If you have read above paragraph, you can guess that I started watching this anime with too many expectations. I myself being a (local) badminton player and an enthusiasts who follows international badminton I had set the benchmark too high to cross. But to my utter disappointment this anime came nowhere close to it. After watching the 5th episode I realized I couldn't take this anymore. I must drop this utter disgrace to the sport of badminton.
Story: Average
It the usual cliche sport story with one hardworking girl who loves badminton and is struggling through a past traumatic loss. When a cliched GOD-GIFTED lefty player joins their team who had suffered since childhood because of oppressive parent. Then you have rivals and other things, the usual stuff you find in other sport anime. Just like any other sport badminton is also a game of skills and strategy. But this anime shows neither of those. Rather whatever is shown is either a stereotype or a complete wrong tactics. It gives zero insights into the game. Story and characters are lackluster as well. Read the spoiler at the bottom to know why I hate this anime.
Characters: Bad
All the characters in this anime are average. The interactions and personalities of the characters felt artificial. Aragaki Nagisa, their team captain felt too much out of character when she changed from badminton obsessed relentless captain to an accommodating team player who puts faith in the team. Same can be said about Hanesaki Ayano who is the left-handed prodigy with shy personality. Side characters are also average or below average. I didn't feel any connection or understanding with any of them.
Art: Very Good
First episode is extremely well animated. Trust me after watching badminton for so long I was awestruck by the details of the sport the animation covered. The quality of the animation dropped after the second episode but it was by no means bad. I think there was nothing for me to complain.
Sound: Average
Even though the sound tracks are good they felt out of place in certain situations. For example in initial episodes during a serious match between Captain Aragaki and new member Ayano the pleasant music ruined the mood.
Enjoyment: Very Bad
I literally hate this anime. I usually don't drop anime no matter how bad they are. But may be this being too close to my heart I was unable to stand it to the end. May be some of you will find this enjoyable if you ignore the sport aspects of the show or view it from some other perspective.

Spoilers:
Episode 5:
In the last doubles match between Kitakomachi high-school and other team, the girl from other team decided to play solo against the two girls and goes on to win the match. Are you kidding me. This is total bullshit. Even if assume that the single player is 'that' good all she does to win is to hit strong smashes. Even from an entertainment point of view all we get is how emotional they are during the game and zero strategic thinking from both sides. To add to this utter disgrace the coach gives advice where the two girls will play front-back which is THE WORST thing you can do to defend against an attacking player. For those of you who don't know much about badminton let me put few things in perspective. In badminton if we combine two 'singles' players who have won lets say Olympics and ask them to play again an average 'international' doubles pair. They will lose the match because those two game categories (singles and doubles) are that different. So if an Olympics medalist is playing one on two match with any two local 'serious' players he will lose very badly. And here we get to see two talented players (who I am sure are going to win in future) loosing from a single player without any strategy. Hope you got my point.

*** This review contains spoilers of all the three seasons. I have separated season 3 spoilers towards the end. ***
This is a general review of the series "Kuroko no Basket" as a whole series. If you have not seen first two seasons then do not read this review.
I really liked this anime. I will definitely recommend it, especially for the sports enthusiasts. But I have given overall score of 8 because this anime could have been so much better with a little realistic characters and story. Towards the end I realized that the show lacked depth for its center characters. I guess a shounen anime
...
need not have depth to its story but I felt little disappointed because of it. But overall feel of the anime was very good.
Kuroko no basket is a very well structured plot for a sports anime. It started with a guy name Kuroko who is excellent in passing the ball using misdirection skills and loves the basketball as a team sport. In the past he has been a part of a legendary high-school basketball team whose other members were prodigies and never believed in team-play. He want to prove to them that basketball is a team sport.
I really liked this simple and strong plot.
In this review I am noting down good and bad points (in my opinion) about the anime.
Good points:
• The most intriguing element of the series is the thrill in the basketball games played by “Serin” (Korukos’ high school team) as well as the other teams. The anime successfully involves you in every minute of the game. At certain moments even I myself felt the adrenalin rush watching the game. The difficult task of making the audience realize the events taking place in every corner of the court is brilliantly handled. The uncertainty of winning keeps the audience involved in every game and makes them want more.
• Appropriate abstraction of the details of the games. I myself don’t know much about the game. With much more details, this could have become little boring for the audience who know nothing about the game. This can be a negative point for those who want to see details about the game.
• Well written script for all the games throughout the series. Also the screen-time given to other characters and their background was okay. (This could have been better).
Bad points:
• As the series progresses you start realizing that this is not a realistic series. Misdirection, copying other players was okay but making a 3-pointer from the other half of the court with 100% accuracy was too much. Even me, who have rarely seen basketball, realized that this is total BS. In spite of this I liked the series till second season but in the third this was taken to another level. The anime could have been much more realistic. Instead of showing a player who is out of the world with awesome super-power (Midorima), a simple unstoppable rival (Aoimine) makes much more impact on the overall series. Instead of showing a vanishing drive (acknowledged even by the audience *facepalm*) a basket scored with the help of misdirection (without the ball vanishing in front of your eyes) would have been much more awesome.
• As I said earlier center characters and story lacked depth. The center characters Kuroko and Kagami are very shallow. Yes, we got that Kuroko started hating basketball while playing with “Generation of Miracles” but neither has he lacked the confidence after the so called trauma nor he gives any reaction about it throughout the series. He only keeps on saying “I will make you acknowledge my style of basketball”. In case of Kagami, I never really listened to what he is saying. :P Even with the so called background story of Alex and Kagami’s acknowledged brother, I was never able to appreciate Kagami’s character. He simply opens the door to “Generation of Miracles” room and keeps on getting better and better. He goes to US to train hard but learns nothing and in two days masters an unstoppable shot. And so on… Kagami’s character is the most nonrealistic character in the series. Actually all the villains and side characters are much more realistic. Aoimine, Kise, Midorima, Mirasakibura, Hyuga, Kiyoshi are much more realistic than Kuroko and Kagami. Throughout the series Kagami keeps on improving simply by jumping higher and running here and there. I personally felt that Aoimine’s character was the most realistic and impactful.
*** Season 3 spoilers ***
Good points:
• The flashback story of “Generation of Miracle” is especially good in season 3. It justifies the behavior of all 6 of them including Kuroko.
Bad points:
• Except from the flashback everything else felt like repletion from season 1 and 2. The series became much more interesting after Serin badly lost against Aoimine’s team but after this they monotonously won all the games up to winter championship which made it seem too simple. Season 3 lacks the uncertainty of winning which was present in the season 1. I was waiting for Serin to win the winter championship and it did win as per the expectations of everyone. This was little disappointing.
*** END of spoilers ***
To summarize, I will say that this anime makes basketball interesting for everyone but if you are looking for a serious basketball anime then you better not watch this series. With addition of basketball shots which may seem like super-power the anime lost the opportunity to create one of the best series in sports category but even so watching 75 episodes of only basketball was really fun.
