Hey, I read your review of Digimon Universe Appmon, and I can't agree you more.
This anime will have two polar opposite fanbase -> one that accept changes and one that doesn't.
If you are willing to view this show with open mind and without the bias of the "Old Digimon" (When I mean old, I mean Digimon adventure old )
You'd see how brilliantly this show handle its characters , setting , and story.
Those episodes that some people deem as "fillers" are all meaningful character arc to build up each characters' backstory/ goal/ dreams.
If you take off the formula of "Digimon story" you'd appreciate how good the story is paced, giving so many rooms for each characters to shine.
This is why I think Digimon Universe Appmon is MUCH SUPERIOR than the recent rebood of Digimon Adventure, which is a complete failure in my mind due to lack of focus on character development, as well as no briefer in between each battle and crisis. The story gets stagnated, repetitive and boring very quickly because of terrible story structure and the lack of focus on the characters themselves and their motivations. From ep5~15 you have the same formula of children get into crisis -> shinka to next level and save the day. And from ep16 it gets worse because is just crisis after crisis after each episode , and the stack of the story becomes repetitive/ artificial. The characters don't feel like real people anymore, and are only there to fulfill the purpose of battling and solving crisis,.
