Zankyou no terror is an anime that mixes thriller and drama. After looking at the reviews here and after seeing the design of it, I decided to give it a try.
It was a good anime. I think it had a great potential which was unfortunately hardly availed. It could have been a great anime, however it lacks of something.
On the positive side there is the enjoyable design. Each character has its own characteristics and not a single one looks like another one. Each character has a special aura that corresponds to their personality. Even better, the animation is really fluent.
On another plan, the
...
dark atmosphere that englobes the anime from beginning to end suits the story really well and nothing is out of place in that sense.
On the negative side, the story was good but wasn't profound enough. It isn't detailed enough. It seems that we are just rushing from one action to another with little phases of sentimentalism and reflection.
To begin with I think that this anime should have been much longer and could at least have had 5 more episodes. It would have given more time to analyse and maybe better explanations on some things. In fact after seeing the whole thing I was quite disappointed since I waited for something much more deeper with such a story line. It now just looks like an empty story. The effects are great but the story and the characters lack of deepness. At the end there is no real message and the story in itself is really messy and we keep loosing track. There is no real direction which can be really confusing. There is no focus on anything and at some points second characters seem to be as important as main characters.
Finally, I was really disappointed by the end because it underscored its lack of real meaning. It didn't reach my expectatives and didn't give me the "more" I was hoping for.
However, I must say that I enjoyed watching this anime. For me it is a fair anime that is good if you don't have anything else to see and is actually really entertaining.
(My english might not be perfect, sorry for that)
