SPOILER WARNING!! I’ll openly be talking about spoilers as the review goes on but generally, I really enjoyed Death Note, I was gonna give it a 7 but bc of a certain side character I got attached to and how enjoyable the show was, I decided to give it an 8
I heard that the ending was bad many years ago, but i really didn’t think it was all that bad, I think the issue was that trying to recapture Light and L’s original dynamic is like trying to catch lightning in a bottle, Near, Mello, and especially Mikami deserved a bit more… buildup I guess??

Like if Near and Mello had their own investigation going on before L died to settle their rivalry, and as for Mikami?? I mean I really can’t tell when you’d introduce him but it felt a little late.
It may be hard to get into the show after L dies in my opinion, however it does pick itself back up gradually, only for the fact that it’s hard to live up to the original L and Light dynamic. The last “scheme” to catch Kira did feel a bit outta left field, but Kira’s downfall was still a great watch.
