I'm pretty big on all genres of anime since I think even the most mundane and inane subjects have something to appreciate about them. This is not to say that I believe all anime to be of high pedigree or quality; I'll be the first to concede flaws in writing or production. That said, the blindly negative attitude towards anime as a medium and certain genres have kept me from enjoying perfectly great works and at this point, I am inclined to believe that life is too short to pass up on experiences without giving them a go.
So in general, I end up watching anime of all genre and topics, but I probably enjoyed the Aria series the most as far as slice of life goes.
Do you mean that you try to keep an open mind with new shows? I'm the same way. I know a lot of people around my age who only watch anime from the 80s and 90s. They're missing out on so much of the new good stuff.
I am studying computer science with a specialization in bioinformatics. I also signed up for a minor in ICAM (computing in the Arts). Just taking 4 classes atm so I have time to watch anime most the time.
Yay! more donuts! I till love how you recommended Shirobako to me but it took you like half a month to finish it after i did haha
But wow! Disney! That's so cool! Are you like an animator or something? I guess my title would also be a full time student too. What are you studying? something animation related?
Gun Gale was nice But having read the books I thought Mothers Rosario was a bit better. I recommend the SAO light novels, they're actually really well written.
I need to catch up on Fairy tail as well, i haven't watched any since the Lucy arc.
That's understandable. There are some genres like mecha and ecchi that I don't find as entertaining anymore. I don't mind magic girl anime because I'm still fairly new to it. I haven't even seen a complete episode of Sailor Moon. >_< Regarding Madoka Magica, I thought it was mostly enjoyable. It had a lot of fun visuals and ideas.
I finished it already. :D And I really enjoyed it. It was like a love letter to the anime industry. It made me more aware—even more so than before—of the hard work that goes into making these movies and shows. On a different subject, I'm curious: What didn't you like about Madoka Magica?
I know what you mean. I just thought that on average, the fans of more action-oriented shows targeting shounens tend to not find something like shirobako as interesting. I think they're all pretty great.
Haha funny you asked, I actually just caught up with the whole thing. I still remember when I got to episode 19 and the disappointment when realizing that I have to start waiting another week for each episode again. I thought the endings were pretty good too. Angel Beats used to be one of my favorite Animes and I've even wrote a review on it and everything. I guess I just like slice of life anime more.

I liked your review of Shirobako. As an animator and animation geek, an anime about anime sounds really intriguing. Ha.
