Introduction:
• Kaijuu no Kodomo is a movie about the circle of life and the sea. Strange things happen and the characters are at the center of it all.
Story (7):
• I'll be honest, I don't know what the f*ck was going on half of the time, but it was still very enjoyable nonetheless.
• There was a major shift in theme around halfway through, where the story turns philosophical and spiritual. Similar to the End Of Evangelion.
• Aside from that, we have a main character that is in love with the sea and finds companions that share her interest. Overall it is a wholesome and trippy
...
story. You won't find yourself bored while watching this at least.
Art (10):
• The main draw of this movie, the absolutely beautiful animation and effects. The effects are nothing short of eye candy. It is colorful, expressive, and fluid. On the other hand, the animation switches between 2D and 3D sequences which keeps things interesting. In both scenarios, it looks very fluid and realistic. Things in the background are constantly in motion as well and the use of CGI does not stand out at all.
Sound (8):
• Great sound design. Every little detail contains the appropriate sound and the scenes have good OSTs to compliment them. Pretty much as expected from a movie. Nothing in particular stood out to me, but I would still say this category is above average overall because of the abundance and quality of sound effects.
Characters (6):
• Weakest part of the movie, depending on if you think the story is good or bad. In my opinion, the story was a lot better than the characters.
• There are 3 main characters and a few side characters. The side characters don't have anything interesting about them and aren't really developed at all aside from two of them.
• The main girl is pretty average and doesn't really have anything unique about her, besides loving the sea. She is the type of character that is constantly yelling the main boys name in stressful situations, which can get annoying. One of the main boys does have a unique personality and seems to develop as a character. Starting off from edgy, he begins to open up slowly. On the other hand, the other main boy isn't interesting at all. He's always just running around everywhere and swimming.
Enjoyment (9):
• My personal enjoyment of this movie is a 9 even in light of the issues listed above. Mostly this score is due to the amazing animation and trippy scenes, which I thought were interesting.
Overall (8):
• Due to the issues with characterization and the story making little sense, I cannot give this more than an 8. The animation is definitely carrying most of the score in this case.
Conclusion:
• I recommend giving this movie a go. It won't bore you and will captivate you with the unique animation style. You might have to watch some type of analysis video to actually understand the entire story though.

Introduction:
• Somali to Mori no Kamisama is an emotional and adventurous anime that stems off of a wholesome premise, the bond between parent and child. Throughout the anime we are exposed to various themes such as loss, discrimination, and bonding.
Story (7):
• The story is focused on our two travelers, Somali and the Golem. Due to certain circumstances, the Golem is watching over Somali as her father figure while they search for her real parents. A premise that is not very unique on it's own but is enhanced by the odd combination of human and golem.
• As mentioned, Somali is a human in a world filled
...
with various sentient creatures and plant life. The challenge she faces is one beginning from ancient times, the food chain. Humans were both distrusted and highly sought after for their meat resulting in their near extinction. This poses an actual threat in this anime and spices things up. You are constantly worried that her identity will be discovered which will result in her being hunted down.
• In addition, you have a ticking time bomb to this story. The Golem only has a limited time left to live and has to fulfill his mission. This creates a lot of emotional strife and cements itself as the main obstacle for the anime. Will they have to part ways?
Art (9):
• My favorite aspect and a part of what makes this anime so special. The art is simply eye candy. Vibrant, dreamlike, and unique are a few words that come to mind. If nothing else, the art alone will captivate you.
Sound (8):
• Both the opening and ending are distinguishable and well made. They put you in a state of relaxation, perfect for the type of theme this anime goes for.
• The OSTs also sound good and fit the situation at hand. Nothing so far has stood out in particular, but similarly to the opening and ending, the OSTs have a dreamlike and relaxing vibe to them.
Characters (7):
• As of this point we have been introduced to a few side characters. Aside from the obvious traveling duo, we have the people they meet along the way. They tend to aid in strengthening the bond between the duo and slowly changing the Golems outlook on life.
• The main duo are definitely interesting and contrast one another. The Golem strict and emotionless is the opposite of Somali, carefree and energetic. It is nice to see how they interact with one another and observe the bond they have deepening. On the other hand, the side characters aren't very memorable but still get the job done. Not much depth to them, backstory, or personality.
Enjoyment (8):
• Even though I tend to not particularly care much for relaxing adventure anime, I find myself excited to watch this every week.
• I can say my favorite aspects are definitely the art and the unique combination of main characters.
Overall (7):
• For now I will leave this show at a 7 even though I personally give it an 8. Nothing major has yet to happen in the story and the side characters have been a little weak. I do expect this rating to change as the series ends since it will have to tackle the fact that the Golem is dying. This moment will either make or break the anime. If done well, I will definitely increase the rating to an 8.
• I recommend this anime to fans of adventure, slice of life, fantasy, and drama. You will find yourself relaxing and being in awe of the art. If you are expecting a lot of action or a completely wholesome anime, you will be disappointed.
Conclusion:
• Definitely a good seasonal anime that is worth watching. It has a memorable art style and has the potential to be a stand out of this season.

Introduction:
• Rikei ga Koi ni Ochita no de Shoumei shitemita is a fun and enjoyable seasonal anime that fills the romcom slot. Rather than putting major focus on either the romance or comedy aspect, this Anime adds science to the mix instead, providing a unique experience.
Story (7):
• Basic romcom premise, two main characters like each other and chaos ensues.
• In this case, the science aspect adds a unique twist to the typical romcom premise which brings the comedy up a notch.
• I don't expect to see any resolution on the romance side of things, and if there does happen to be some resolution, it will
...
probably be very weak.
• The science as previous mention is fairly realistic and grounded in reality. Lot's of real life references are made along with explanations to what they mean. The way they do the explanations kind of annoys me, it is sudden and done in a very strange manner.
Art (7):
• Not much to be said in this category. Art looks good but nothing special. Animations are typical as well, some movement with mostly static shots. It does the job and does not take you out of the experience. However, the opening theme does have good visuals to it.
Sound (7):
• Slightly better than the art but not enough to reach an 8. The opening and ending themes are both well made and catchy with the opening being the better of the two in my opinion.
• The OSTs used are average and forgettable but get the job done.
Characters (8):
• This is where the series shines. Characters all have unique personalities and quirks. This makes for fun and interesting interactions between each other. You have the two science types that struggle to function in normal circumstances and over analyze everything. You have the two otakus that like the mess with each other and cause trouble. You have the freshman girl that just joined them who has a more level headed attitude that struggles to keep up with their craziness. And recently, the absent minded yet polite teacher that turns insane at the drop of a hat. All in all, you can expect some crazy scenarios that you will not find in typical romcoms.
Enjoyment (8):
• I am personally enjoying this Anime a lot and look forward to it every week. As a disclaimer, I tend to be in the target audience for these types of shows but I am attempting to review this without any bias.
Overall (7):
• Considering all the previous categories and the score I have given them, I have decided to give the Anime a 7 as of now. This is a score that is subject to change, but I am pretty confident it will stay as a 7.
• I recommend this show to fans of romance, comedy, and science. People that are expecting actual romance will be disappointed. If you are expecting a complete story or a season 2, you will also likely to be disappointed.
Conclusion:
• Definitely a good seasonal show that is worth watching but not a stand out in particular.
• My first ever review as well, feedback is appreciated.
