I seriously can't describe how much I love this anime. This is what introduced me to the magical girl/mahou shoujo genre, and I know that it did the same thing for many others.
The story is similar in how any of the magical girl series start: a young girl who, one day, unexpectedly gains magical powers and is now responsible of saving the world from many calamities. had the opportunity to experience anime aired on TV. I started watching anime when I was 11 years old, but 72 episodes didn't make me feel discouraged and stopped me from watching it. Rather than only being fillers, each episode provided me with something new: new characters, new powers, new conversations, new funny moments, and especially new feelings. By following Sakura's journey to the very end, I saw how each of the characters, both original and new, developed, and through their development, left different messages. Sakura, for instance, taught me a lot about not giving up, about following your heart and enjoying the fun moments of life, despite what people may say or the obstacles that may make you fall down and want to give up sometimes. Tomoyo's loyalty and friendship taught me to try and always be there for people, especially when they are going through hard times and they feel that their world is about to crumble.
Sakura Card Captor is an anime that is truly worth watching whether you grew up with it or not, and especially if you love the magical girl genre. The story, characters, sound and art is beautiful, and it is one of CLAMP's most famous series for that reason. It has a very special place in my heart, so I'm really excited for what the new Clear Card Arc will bring!
