I do NOT want to waste my time with a colossal review, so I'll just make it quick.
To be honest, when i first watched nanatsu I really liked it, but after growing up a little (6 years can really make a change) I saw that it is mediocre. not bad to the point of being funny, just... meh... now let's get to the topics.
The perfect description of the plot is mediocre, now let's not get mad, 13y/o who praise kirito and think that sexual harassment is something to make fun of (meliodas, i'm looking at you) Now i'm not gonna lie, the way that the
...
autor insert the mysteries and even the worldbuilding are pretty well done, and it reaches what it intend to, but the story itself is just weak and impersonal, maybe little kids can relate to the flashy powers and the "LoOk HoW i'M bAdAsS" quotes (yes, I'm talking about Escanor), but I simply can't.
The characters... well, "in social psychology, a stereotype is an over-generalized belief about a particular category of people." -Wikipedia
You have the OP MC, the drunken badass first hand man, the too-good-to-be-true 16 year old that falls in love with the man that touches her body without permission... (Stockholm syndrome?) The jealous tsundere, the smart and stoic character with glasses, the smart and mature hot woman (and of course I'm talking about Nico Ro- Merlin) and the badass motherfucker. you can argue that "they have unique traits" and yes, they have, but they are still just superficial characters based on the well-known shounen stereotypes. they don't feel real, they dont feel like Characters, most of them are just plot tools that pretty much doesn't contribute to the personal side of the story.
I'm gonna be fair with the anime on the enjoyment part, I really didn't enjoy myself that much, but I can see new anime fans having fun with it.
That's pretty much it, I used to criticize this kind of series much more, but now i just don't have the energy to hate on them everytime.

When the REAL "Black Swordsman" comes to play, ya know it's serious play, and when I say "serious" I mean ABSO-FUCKING-LUTELY MASTERPIECE and when i say "play" I mean "a story".
Well, I don't think that I need to explain about how good Berserk is, and, honestly, my useless opinion wont change anyone mind, but this is my review and I'll say it two times BERSERK IS THE GOAT... (x2).
Want to know if the Story is good? well, it's like that time Mario Puzo wanted to learn how to write screenplays, so he bought a book about screenwriting and in the first page it said "study
...
the Godfather movies script"... Want to know if a story is well written? read Berserk and see a perfect plot.
Everyone knows, and I mean EVERYONE KNOWS that Miura is just a god of drawings, so nothing to add about Berserk Art here.
And now the core of the story, that one thing that, when done well, makes any story feel real and deep: TITT- Ops, I mean... Character! hah.. that was it. It's public knowledge the astonishing development and construction of Berserk characters, mainly of course Guts, Caska and Griffith. They are not your average stereotypical and exaggerated (swagger) characters, they have their own reasons and ideals, they laugh and cry and make hard choices like real humans do, sure, Guts can swing a sword bigger than Yo mama, but his thoughts are those of a person, not of a superhuman-destroying-machine that just serves the plot or try to look badass (he's very badass tho). And I didn't even talk about how traumas can affect the characters just like in real life. AND OF COURSE, I DID NOT TALK ABOUT GRIFFITH.
Even if it looks like a psychological manga, Berserk is still a dark fantasy story, and boy oh boy, put dark in it! it's brutal, gory and merciless like real life would be if trolls and fucking killer elfs roamed around. And even so, it's enjoyable as fuck, the paneling with Miura's art make you feel the weight in every hit of Dragonslayer sword. it's like watching a motherfucking train out of the rails just passing throug everything. Berserk has some of the best fights and a absolutely perfect pacing.
Well the review got bigger than a I thought it would be, so I'll just end it before I make an entire essay. Berserk is a unique and masterfully made journey, if you never read it, then what are you waiting for? It is not everyday that you can see a (spoiler) superhuman utilizing a destructive demon-inducted possessive armor and holding a 99Kg spirit-killer sword, while riding a one-horned winged minotaur-lion humanoid-demon apostle, while they pass through a electric giant god in the middle of the ocean. I thing that pretty much sums it up.
(don't watch the 2016 anime... please.)

Oh, the elden ri- I mean, Oh the good ol' "why is it the top 1?" well, let's get into it...
Imagine a perfect masterpiece, one that is so amazing that you literally have nothing to discuss about after the end, because it just doesn't let anything without explanation.
You can dislike it, but you can't deny that it's just all around perfect, bro. As an adaptation, it's perfect. As an solo story, it's perfect. If you never watched any anime before, it will be the perfect start, but if you're a veteran weeb without social life that started with School Days and readed/watched the entirety
...
of One Piece more than one time like Me, or is already used to watch crazy, bizarre and full of bullshit stories like JoJo, it will still be an amazing journey for you!
Good start, perfect development and epic, but still very personal conclusion!
And the characters? Oh the characters- maybe I am biased, ya know, it's really good seeing a short MC when you are... short.
You want good fights? it's made for you. You want a perfect central plot? it's for you too then!
Besides that, the anime has OVER THE TOP soundtrack and openings (I don't even need to talk about RAIN and Again, do I?) outstanding and consistent animation and extreme precise direction.
Just ask yourself, when people use a series to compare when a contender to the "best anime" spot appears, it must mean something, right?
it is what it is, a frozen-in-time Gem, untouchable and unreachable, a Born legend, that is now retired just sitting on the well-deserved throne, watching everyone from above.
