I have to say... I don't LIKE this show anymore. Not to say it is bad, but it isn't a show I could highly recommend, let alone re-watch.
STORY 6.75: I know I hate that rating but I can't give it a 7, but i certainly don't think that it deserves a 6. I love the story about these characters, besides the MC and Nori, but the plot just doesn't work when you actually think about it. Why connect them through emotion and pain? Couldn't you just force them to go on a summer trip together or have them work on a project? It just sounds

like the writer thought it was a fun plot and just went with it.
Art 10: Truly gorgeously animated and the character designed are like my second mix tape(coming out 2124, pre-order soon). That's really all I can say, i don't really think I saw any sight not worthy of being seen.
Sound 9: The OP is FIRE, albeit a total rip of of another fire song. Everything else is fine, but I will give it a 9 because of how much I just love the op.
Characters 8: Would most certainly be a 10 if not for MC and Nori. I truly thought they'd develop, but they just don't. I'm not saying that they don't change from time to time, but there is a difference from a character changing and a character developing. Moving on to the rest of the cast... I think they are great. They all have their own personality and flare to them and their interaction is what makes the show worth it.
Enjoyment/Overall 7: I put both together because I, personally, believe that they coincide. This was my most hyped show of the season, so anything below a 10 is a bit of a disappointment(unlike my mix take, coming out 2567), but it is certainly not a bad show. I hate to make a review before the conclusion because ending is the most important thing, but when I have to stop a show with only seconds remaining, I believe a review is in order.

I am going to explain why this show is a masterpiece( like my mix tape, coming out 2361) unlike how most people would. Most people say that his show is just dumb fun, and you should just turn off your brain, but I am here to say that Gurren Lagann is a very intelligent anime.

the watcher know how self aware they are. You can say that the story is very simple in the most convoluted way, and that sentence makes as much sense as the plot, but in its own way... it is magnificent.... Like my mix tape...coming 3456
Characters 10: You might as well add a few more chairs to your dinner table for thanksgiving, because these characters feel like family. You love all of them, and certainly care about what happens to them. In death you choke up and in triumph you stand up with both hands in the air and immidiately sit down because your in the middle of class, AND YOU KNOW YOU AIN'T SUPPOSE TO HAVE YOUR PHONE OUT IN CLASS, but you don't give af cause Gurren Lagann is woth it and you know your prof will understand.
Enjoyment/Overall 10: I LOVE THIS SERIES, not as a fanboy, but as someone who loves film and loves visual art such as this. Watch this show, and love this show for what it is... its' own thing.
A Masterpiece doesn't mean that there are no flaws, a painters life achievement may still hold flaws, but those flaws can't hold a drill to the beauty and that is tengen Toppa GURREN LAGANN.

As an adult man living in 2016, I am fully aware of the equality of genders. Women and Men are truly equal, and everyone is different in their own way, no matter the gender, sexual orientation, etc.
I write this because these beliefs are what kept me from enjoying this show. I believe one of the lines in the show goes a bit( but maybe not exactly) like this, " HOW MANY GIRLS CAN A GUY KEEP FROM CRYING IN HIS LIFETIME"....sigh... I know this is based off an older manga, but changes should have been made.
Story 8: I think the story is extremely interesting

and handled fairly well. Each episode is interesting, and can keep you watching.
Art 7: Art is just okay. Some of the character designs, like with Ushio just don't look right, but that is all subjective. It keeps an older feel to it, which I do like, but I just can't flow with the over-sized heads sometimes.
Sound 7: The opening isn't very good at all to me. Not terrible, but not even okay. Action scenes are well made though and the music complements it adequately.
Characters 4: HERE WE GO SON. I don't like Ushio, I really just don't. I hate overpowered characters, but more than that, I hate characters whose world revolves around them. There is a scene where the whole class is bored because Ushio isn't there... I mean COME ON SON... (should have been playing my mix tape). But most of all, I HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE characters who think they are saviors for women. One second we see the women being a bada**, then suddenly Ushio is saying that he has failed because he has made a women cry... chill son. Tora is actually a decent characer, but i just feel no connection, and all the other characters are just there to talk about how amazing Ushio is.
Enjoyment/Overall 6: I was starting to kind of enjoy this series, but it is too dated in its' ways in some areas. I love strong female characters, but this show is empty of them. The story and plot truly are not bad, so if you don't care( YOU SHOULD DOE), go on and enjoy, but for many I can see you not being able to get past it, like myself.

First off, I have to say that i dropped this series after the first couple of episodes. I didn't like Mika, I thought he'd be a stereotypical stoic character, but he's MUCH more of an interesting character than I had previously believed.
Story: 9- The story is fairly simple, but how it is handled is done masterfully. Very few shows have me hooked and can keep my attention for the majority of the series.
Characters: 10- First off, Mika isn't the only main character, because, at least in my opinion, Orga is also the main character. EVERY character is interesting, besides maybe Ein, and not one of

them is disposable, and not one death goes unnoticed. Mika seemed like an annoying stoic character at first, but whats so interesting about his is that you don't really know him. He isn't a personable character, but he is certainly one that cares about his comrades, but at times you may feel that he is a sociopath.
Overall/Enjoyment: 10- This is a fantastic and consistently excellent show, one that should be watched and appreciated more than most. It isn't filled with fan service or annoying romance. It's a realist story about child soldiers that isn't made to make you cry, but to give you hope and spirit.

At a point of time, I loved this anime, it was one of my favorites.
Then, after watching many more quality anime, I saw how truly awful this anime can be, and the number one reason for that is the main character, and I'll get to that.
STORY 4: yes, cool things happen, but what really happens to more the plot? The pacing is rapid, and many things happen too quickly for you to understand compeletly what's happening.
ART 7: The CGI isn't very great with the character designs and some of the motion shots, but the artwork in the background is fantastic and a sight to see.

7: In epic scenes the music is epic, nothing very special so it isn't getting a higher grade, but certainly not a fail.
CHARACTERS 2: I like a couple of the side characters, Izana is enjoyable sometimes, so as far as the side characters it's fine....buuuuuut.... I HATE THE MAIN CHARACTER MORE THAN ANY OTHER ANIME CHARACTER EVER!!!! He's god awful, and the cgi makes it worse, he just has this like blank face ALL THE TIME!!! But HEY all the girls in the show LOVE HIM LOOOOOVVVEEE HIMMM, and it make he sick seeing it. Yes I know that's a function of many harem shows, but in many of the other harem, the main character has at least some personality, Nagate(sidonia main character) is like a doll and the writer makes it say cliches constantly.
ENJOYMENT 2: I use to LOVE this show, I bought the premium edition, worst buy ever, can't even watch it anymore.
OVERALL 3: the art is beautiful at times, and some side characters are enjoyable, but the main character is an embarassment.

Show me someone who says this series sucks and I'll show you my hand mark on their face.
Yes, the art style is different. Yes, there is a lot of dialogue. And yes, this show IS amazing. Watch this show, just watch it you. will. not. be. disappointed haha. Very few times have I seen an anime as well made as this, and the saddest part is that not as many people have watched this compared to people who watched lesser shows like SAO( is said lesser, not dog s$&t)
Try out the first episode, watch the character interaction, at least give it that.

story doesn't have to be this grand epic tale, and katanagatari does have one. This show is simple, two people are on a mission to collect swords, and with such a simple story, and fantastic journey is born( that sounded smart right?)
CHARACTERS 10: MANNNN there are parts in this series where I truly root for the 'villains'. Heroes------> Doper, Villains-----------> Doper, haha watch this show and I'll give you my phone number...........ladies.
OVERALL 10: This show is just great. Watch it, love it, marry it ( I will try not to judge you for it)

THIS WAS THE FIRST COMEDY ANIME I WATCHED.
Before I watched this anime, I was much more into drama filled anime. I saw that this show was getting good reviews, so I watched it, then I bought it on blu ray, then I watched it two more times.
STORY 8: Why do I give this an 8? Well, because it didn't end, I love a good ending, and hate a bad ending, but with this I got neither, but this show was so good I had to give it an 8

these characters, and even more than that, I love how these characters interact with eachother. Each has his or her own personality that is interesting to watch, so when the story focuses on a specific character, it's always enjoyable, no matter the character.
OVERALL 10: Show me someone one who doesn't enjoy this show and I'll show you someone who just got slapped across the mouth( across the mouth?) Haha, this is one of my favorite shows in this medium. This show is soooooo good that, even with it being a comedy, I felt the void, and that's a fantasticly magnificinical thing...does that make sense haha.

First off, Higurashi isn't nearly as bloody as its hype would claim. Granted, yes this series can get extremely bloody at times, but, honestly, it isn't nearly as bad as other shows, like elfen lied.
STORY 10: I love the story of this show, some mystery shows, it's easy to guess the mystery, but this show makes the task extremely more difficult than the average show. The story goes in directions where, if not for a SOLID story, it could become extremely dumb.
ART 8: Yes, the art isn't Attack on Titan, Kara no Kyoukai level, but with the creepy vibe this show may give off at
...
times, the art, for some odd reason, makes it even creepier, and with the in depth facial features at the EXTRA creepy times, the art just fits.
I won't dive into everything but I love ALL the characters, you care for most, if not all, of the characters, there's even a semi romance built in this show, that is excellent because it doesn't take any from the show.
Overall, I love this show, it amazing. What kept me from watching this show for sooooo long was the idea of watching an overly bloody show, but that's not what this is, it's an extremely well made mystery, and if there's a show that most resembles this show, surprisingly it's the other masterpiece series STEINS; GATE

THE VOID!!!!!
At the time I finished this show, I had the biggest void of my anime watching life. That void lasted for a good week, and that is, truly, a great thing. It's great because the only times I feel a void is when I finish a truly fantastic series.
What's wrong with this show? Hell if I know, this is in my top 5 favorite shows, from episode 1 to the very end I couldn't stop watching. I think I woke up one day, decided to watch something new, and I finished this whole show in one day.

I love these characters from the fun loving cheerful love interest to the rude, yet charming super model, each character is developed and each is a true joy to watch. Yes, it's a romance, but it's a slice of life before anything, choosing to save the romance for later

IF ONLY THIS GOT ANOTHER SEASON!!!!!
I watched this series, and after I decided to read the manga... The manga is a mos def 10/10 and I don't doubt for a second that if this anime continued it would be a 10/10... But sadly it didn't
The show is beautiful, it's got a great color scheme that looks great with the action, well when you can see it. A major problem I had with my funimation blu Ray was its censorship. Overall I love this series, but that's mainly because I read the manga, so I know what happened in the future, and though I love this anime, it's truly saddening when I know what could have come 7/10
