The show was good enough. All I'm gonna say is that, the art is pretty unique and the main things to like about the show is that it gets kinda deep, the art is unique, the characters actually do develop, and it's aight.
This show was based off of a Manwha who's author must've really wanted to teach young men about heartbreak and trust tho LMAO. I can't say anything else or else it'd be spoiled but gosh, when I got to the end, that's the only way I could reason the stupid decisions out... with a huge metaphor. Now there were some characters in
...
there that I liked a lot (basically the 'smart' ones especially on the more antagonistic side, but a few protagonist)
It's no favorite of mine, but it was cool to watch. Then again, I'm tropey Isekai trash guy, so my favorite wouldn't be most peoples

This show is not for anyone who's an 'anime fan' looking for compelling shows that tug on your heart strings, have plots with crazy twists, deep messages, and whatever other things that make a show great.
If I had to make a comparison to help you decide if you should watch it, it's not as deep as 'Log Horizon,' but it's got more flare than 'Isekai Cheat Magician.' It almost borrows elements from both shows and comes up with a show that's likely to get ranked in between them, depending on how you feel about each one. But honestly, if you like this genre, or
...
if you're just trying to appreciate this show for what it has to offer rather than comparing it to other shows you watch, it's very enjoyable.
No breathtaking visuals or sound; nothing you haven't seen before. It's about what you'd expect from a good show. I daresay it's standard-perfect, but not unique. High quality and definition stuff. Every character is essentially reflective of another one you've seen before. (I mean most shows are, but at the same time, you usually have thrilling plot to make everything more personal).
I think because of this, this show loads of bad reviews and poor ranking. If you look at shows we say are 'good' as a community, they're pretty much all shows the have a deep or unique message, crazy plot, and are in one way or another unpredictable.
That almost makes this show more of a niche show... for those of us who absolutely enjoy the fantasy/isekai genre. This show has your generic goodhearted MC that you've seen in every show where the MC the heroic type. Most people got tired of this sort of character when Kirito rolled around. The plot isn't amazing, and admittedly, once you see the first part of the puzzle, you already know where the rest go. The characters have stereotypical personalities *but* with rather unique background stories. And that's where this show shines. The game (in the show) reflects/rewards/affects each character based on the combination of the personality and how the backstory affects it. Saying any more would be spoiling it, but I think it's genius how the writer(s) came up with a legitimate way to take these so called "cardboard cutout" characters, overall plot, and generic scenery and apply them to a scenario with rules so well thought out that the show seems unique in its own ways. Everything in this show makes so much sense. The logic is there. You gotta appreciate the thought that was put into this; it's so good that if they had the resources to milk out the plot and the main character's progression over a longer amount of episodes (with suspense in the right places), we'd probably have more intimacy with these characters and the premise of the game to see the show for more than a generic and tropey isekai-ish themed show.
If you've watched almost every show in this general genre (isekai/fantasy/action/adventure)
you could find since 2010, I'll tell you right now this show is pretty good. 'Isekai cheat magician' is _average_ compared to the rest of these sorts of shows and this show comes out to be _pretty good_. You'll likely appreciate the steady growth in MC's skills, his lucky breaks, the development of the people around him and his relationship with them, and the fact that *nothing* (in my opinion lol) in this show is below average. I'll say it one more time: If you like this genre, or if you're just trying to appreciate this show for what it has to offer rather than comparing it to other shows you watch, it's very enjoyable.

I SUGGEST YOU WATCH THE OLD ONE(s) FIRST (Maj. Orphen 1998 and the revenge sequel). Basically, it's my opinion that this version is a better told story with lots of missing pieces due to its rushed nature. To fill in those gaps and really feel the show, context from the old versions is necessary. It makes it a show that you can appreciate so much more.
When I first was about to watch this I saw all the bad reviews. I instantly knew I needed to see the old shows first and I'm glad I did. The funny part was that I had been procrastinating on
...
watching the old ones for years, so this finally pushed to do that. This version's story is a little mixed around from the old version, but I think it's actually based off of a manga version that also mixed it around. This version has some of the same major plot points, but overall they add up to make a completely different (and maybe overall better?) story motive. The characters' personalities are slightly different, but nothing that changes the dynamic of the show.
I can definitely see how this story would be hard to follow. It starts off more like a series of season summary episodes rather than a show; you have no way to gauge the gravity of the situations and truly understand why the characters feel and act the way they do with this show alone (at first). Without seeing the old shows, the characters almost seemed to act irrationally; the characters' relationships do actually develop in this one, but you never really experience it and you don't get the chance to let the characters grow on you.
Somewhere later in the middle of the story, the show is no longer doing summaries of how the characters got in their situation (like every redone version of spiderman needs to tell you how he got his powers and the villains' backstories) and it develops into a great show with its own identity separate from the old one. I'm really looking forward towards the next season. I won't say much b/c I'm afraid to spoil lol.
The art animation and sound weren't super special to me; kind of what you'd expect a decent show to look like during these times. It was pretty reminiscent of the old version, so I could be getting lost in that, but... idk, there's nothing really bad about it and I'm not enough of a fanatic to say what's good. Just like in the old show, the action scenes are great and nicely animated. Even if it isn't the smoothest, there's lots to appreciate.
I enjoyed it, but I feel like I would've been missing a lot without the old show. This show's not bad alone, but when you grow to love the series, you'll appreciate it so much more. Happy watching.
