Counter recommendation, but still a recommendation. I honestly started this for the romance tag, and the many recommendations relating this Saiunkoku to The Twelve Kingdoms. I'm so disappointed, and regret starting Saiunkoku based on those facts, as it doesn't really have romance and there's no similitude to The Twelve Kingdoms. DO NOT WATCH SAIUNKOKU IF YOU ARE EXPECTING ANYTHING LIKE THE TWELVE KINGDOMS.

Both anime share a series of intricate mystery theme and slight hint of romance, with a main lead who finds himself unexpectedly fascinated by an enigmatic girl (Victorique/Fremy). Victorique and Fremy share a similar dismissing personality towards others, which we slowly see evolve.

Love a heart warming story? Love that warming family relationship? Or that cute considerate girl? Well this two share those and some more. Sorry I can't provide more comments, but I'm a person of short words.

If you liked KimiKiss Pure Rouge add

I DO NOT RECOMMEND watching Kimikiss Pure Rouge if you are hoping for some happy ending romance like Amagami SS. There's really no similarities between this two anime other than it's set in a school and the same creator, also the plots are totally different. Now the manga of Kimikiss does resembles Amagami SS with the different happy endings and one only male main character. Sorry but this recommendation will only help those who have watched Amagami SS.

One boy always been beat by the main girl who loves and doesn't love him at the same time. Sometimes surrounded by many girls like in Love Hina and as always leading the main to be beaten. Also Youko (Main Inukami!) and Naru (Main Love Hina) does not only share the same Seiyuu (Yui Horie) but also the same violent and love & love not attitude.
