it's rare i find an anime that appeals so much to me specifically that it feels like i could have written it. the idea of beign able to redo ur life and fix ur past mistakes isnt new for anime, its beyond cliché at this point and even the ever growing 'starting out as a child' twist sub genre is becoming more and more common. but when u start combining and mixing different tags and sub genes things can become fresh again, and this is one of those cases.
dubious age gaps, shoujo, princesses, goddesses, prophecies, dragons and age regression. if those those things didnt make
...
ur ears perk up with interest i don't think ull get nearly as much out of this as i did. there is something here if ur just looking for a cute fantasy romcom with a strong female lead and some cool action on the side, but at times i felt like the director himself didnt fully understand the appeal of the source material he was adapting. i've been beating around the bush a little but what im tryign to say this is mostly only going to work for a very specific subsect of women, ones who wish they could go back to being 10 and be forced 2 marry a dark prince who is much older and taller then them. if thats u.. well i recommend u watch this immediately, or better yet (and i hate to be that guy ..) read the manga because one of the biggest problems here is the budget.
they do their best 2 make it work with a clean and bright and simple art style and sometimes it does its honestly quite cute.. but i was left wanting something a little more substantial and detailed. especially because this show will surprise u by being rather action centric, a large majority of the show is dedicated to jill being a badass, she fights she makes plans she protects her prince and commands dragons and it made me fall in love with her character. i have a soft spot for girlbossess.. u can see that looking at my fav characters on my profile.. i jsut cant help but look up to and admire them and jill is no different shes so commanding and cool and awesome, which isnt what i was expecting coming into this. there are of course lots of scenes of her being a child and being coddled, of her sitting in hadis's lap or being picked up and carried.. but thats part of the appeal too!! what i mean to say is this author rlly gets it, she understands the fantasy shes trying to sell to us. especially as im someone whos constantly torn between wanting to be cute and wanting to be cool, jill is basically everything i could ask for in a 'literally me' self insert character.
okay so ur starting to understand why this show appeals so much to me specifically, i kind of feel like ive shown all my cards here in a way that makes me feel vulnerable like u could read this post and watch the show and see deeply into my soul and understand my fantasies and ideals and desires. kind of dramatic i know but its how i feel, and its my review so i can be as chuuni as i want 2 be without being embarrassed. (ok thats a lie I AM embarrassed but lets just move past it im secretly hoping no one reads this)
but what about people who arent me who arent psychically in tune with the author in a way that makes me feel like we're one in the same person. well.. u get a cute shoujo romcom fantasy action (isekai?) with some cool action and twists along the way. i haven't mentioned the story at all but its engaging and cool and unique and well written, especially when u compare it to other shows in this genre. i wotn get into spoilers but there is whole subplot with a goddess who is in love with the emperor, and she curses him so that he will always be alone and wont have anyone to love him but her.. which is already an awesome concept but they manage to tie it into everything in a way that at first seems like it exists to justify the plot of the show (the goddess can take over the body of any girl over 14, so the emperors wife must be younger then that), but as it goes on it itself takes some paths that become extremely interesting and cool. the more i think and talk about it the more in love with it i feel.. so.. instead of listening to me talk about it.. go watch it!!
anyway if u made it this far thanks for reading my review.. i hope to do more of these as i watch things and find i have something 2 say... but no promises. anime.. forever!!!

i started reading this bc i came across a panel on twitter of a girl sitting in a really gross room full of junk, and i really like that kind of aesthetic so i decided to give it a go and was not disappointed. this is a really weird story about an alien tricking a young girl intro giving up her brothers soul and her subsequent quest to get revenge, it sounds pretty generic when i put it like that but there are lots of interesting paths this manga takes that u don't normally see in stories like this.
the highlight of the whole thing is
...
definitely the art, lots of really cool panels depicting a neet girl, gore, guns, aliens, stuff like that.
as a whole i'd give it an 8. it's really short so u can easily read it in on sitting. would love to see an ova adapt this it'd be rlly sick animated. reminded me of becchin to mandara in a lot of ways, just the general vibe and weirdness. pretty fricking cool overall

honestly I loved this movie despite never seeing anything else black jack related. the animation was beautiful even if it fell off a little at the end, character animation was smooth and detailed and all of those shots of old computers and surgery were to die for. fantastic backgrounds and direction, interesting characters and the plot was good enough even if it was predictable. i'm a huge sucker for good 90s animation/character designs so this was a treat to watch, I really enjoyed it. the only thing that bugged me was the indoor rain around the 55 minute mark. a solid 8/10.

one of the the best show about a lesbian relationship in the medium, and it doesn't do it in the way anime usually does. There's no fan service, the characters aren't sexualized, and the shows drama and relationships are grounded in reality. This feels like a show made for lgbt youth, it's not pandering to the otaku crowd and instead is a realistic portrayal of being young and experimenting with your sexuality. It's not perfect, the art can be inconsistent and the show feels slow at times but watching the relationship of the 2 main girls grow brought back many memories of similar
...
relationships i've had in the past and that's not something I experience with anime often.

This anime looks pretty good for 1989 and has tons of gory moments that would make great gifs, that's really the only nice thing I can say about this anime. the story is complete nonsense, no ones motivation for anything is clear and nothings explained that well. it kinda just feels like nonsense soup with a bunch of fighting in-between. the summery of the plot here on MAL tells you way more then the show will. I had no idea the "demons" were actually aliens till I went back and read the description of it again
the battles can be pretty cool, creative and gory
...
and like I said it looks good for 1989.
5/10 it's really all style and no substance

Wake Up, Girls! Shichinin no Idol works as an intro into the show, think of it as a 52 minute long first episode. It's simple enough, a talent company runs out of talent and tries to scramble together some girls to start an idol group. The characters are cute and the music is great and it even made me laugh a few times, it's enough to make me start watching the Wake Up, Girls! as it airs.
8/10
