Re zero is probably the biggest show this year with some people already putting it in their top 10 fav of all time..personally to me i enjoyed the show but i dont think its top 10 of all time material here's why:
Lets talk about the good parts of the show first :
The characters are fantastic with each character having its own personality unique story and motive etc (subaru being my favorite character of the show)
The sound design and voice acting in this show are superb i can't stress how well the soundtrack fits it....everytime you think all is ok this sudden music starts building up
...
and adds the suspense and the feeling of unease (i highly recommend buying this show's ost) the OP and ED theme are all great OP 1 being my favorite OP of the show
The animation was spectacular in this show, some of the most well animated scenes i have seen in a while , the directing of the show was also on point and the pacing never felt slow.
Now lets talk about some of my problems with the show :
subaru in particular , subaru is a unique MC to say the least and its hard not to like him because you can relate to him in so many ways but i can't help but feel frustrated at him some times
i at one point got so frustrated with subaru that at one episode i paused it and kept it paused for like 10 minutes trying to figure out if subaru really said what he just said or did what he just did ( i love subaru's character but i gotta admit he can be pretty douchy some times to the point where i wish i was there to punch some sense into him) i cant tell you how many times i was like : "really subaru ? really ? "
also subaru's motive was never clear , from the start of the series he is thrown to this magical fantasy world and he doesn't seem surprised at all if anything he looks happy wish is kind of weird and feels just like a plot device for the sake of getting subaru in there (it might be explained in season 2 if we ever get one who know ? )
something that also bugged me was some important characters not getting enough explanation as to why they are doing the stuff they are doing for what purpose ? is it just for the sake of being like that ? (characters like beetlguise and satella )
All in all Re zero is a great show nonetheless that you should definitely watch if you are a sucker for psychological thrillers/ time travel anime .
