I'll make this short. First of this is a review of all 6 movies and not just the last one. Its just to bothersome to make a review for each and every part.
I really enjoyed watching this anime. I love mechs and sci-fi so its a given that i would watch this anime. I dont know much about the history, apparently it was first a manga, like most of em, that turned into an anime. But to tell you the truth they should have just spanned it as a series rather than slicing it up as a 6 part movie, 50min each part. I did
...
a 6 hour sitdown and watched everything in one go. Normally i wouldnt but the story was quite interesting so thats why i did.
Story:8 - the story was great. It gently explains all the backstories of the settings and the characters. Also the progression of the story was not boring. You'll get highs like battle sequences, mixed in with lows, which are essentially character developments. The only reason why it gets an 8 and not higher is that its a story told before. Characters and settings are of course different but i can name a few animes with the same storylines.
Art:10 - its a 10 across the board. I love the style of the art. Especially the mechs. They are not clean at all, every single mech looks like its gone through battle at least once. Very accurate also with the setting of the story. on a sidenote, the main character reminds me of ichigo from Bleach.. go figure..
Sound:8 - Great sounds. Opening and ending sequences are good. Also the mix of sound during some critical events was mixed well and noticeable. Overall better than most of em out there.
Character:8 - Its an 8 on chracter. You'll get attached to some of them, especially on the emotional scenes. Chracter development was also enough to get you interested in the chracters, aside from one. I assume its the main characters rival or something, he was in the first 3 movies, but that arc seemed to disappear from there on. I hope there are continuing movies to it tho. Im interested in what happens next.
Enjoyment:8 - Hey, i sat for almost 6 hours straight, watching all 6 movies. What do you think?
Overall:8 - weill its an 8 here. There are a few points where it could have been better but its one anime movie that i will remember. Especially the Golems(mechs)
Spoiler alert: i just wnated to say that the last scene, when the main meets with younger brother after saving the kingdom, and the brother is all crying and shouts out what the heck were you doing all this time, and then the main just laughs, i know, irony, but still, that scene was a disconnect for me. I know what the writers were going for, but its either just me or the timings all off, but i didnt care for it. Its just my 2 cents...

First off the bat, I can understand why some people gave this anime a bad rating. I think there was even one that gave it a 1/10. Honestly, if i started watching the anime from the beginning, i wouldnt have waited for the next week for the second episode. Thankfully i started the anime when they released the 10th episode and so i was able to grasp a big chunk of the plot before i gave up.
I normally would tell you that you should watch the first episode, and if that doesnt get you hooked then its not worth your time. But then again,
...
for every rule there is always an exception, and Kyoukai Senjou no Horizon is one of them. Thankfully i really love anime that have an old feudal japan feel mixed in with technology and it is the primary reason why i kept watching. The second reason why i kept going was i desperately wanted to know the plot to this anime.
Whoever wrote the plot to this anime is simply out of his mind. But thankfully it all comes together. I have watched 10 episodes of the 13, but it all comes together. IT actually takes 4 episodes, before the story becomes exciting and the plot becomes clear, that is if you can last up to the 4th episode without your brain exploding.
Starting from episode 1, while watching it, you'll have a distinct reaction to the story since you dont know what the hell is going on. The first episode also bombards you with the most number of characters to remember, while trying to figure out what the plot really is. If i were to describe it, the writer of this anime, seems like, expects you to know the world where in this anime resides. Hes putting you down in a world in the middle, where you should know the background of the world and its inhabitants, but for course you dont. Altho the world is explained bit by bit, but it spans 4 episodes. This is the primary reason why a lot of reviews had given a low score.
Story: 8 - In its core, it is a love story. But dont cringe, there is nothing mushy in the anime, well there is some but not a whole lot. But the love story angle isnt exposed until the 5th or 6th episode, and thats halfway thru the series. But the real reason why i had given it an 8 and not lower is the fact that the backstory of the world and its inhabitants is rich enough that i wouldnt mind watching a spinoff of this world. Basically i like the theme, and thats that. A love story, told in a very interesting way...Almost lost my mind figuring out the plot...but still interesting.
Art: 10 - What can i say, i love the art. Especially the way, feudal japan is mixed with technology and spells. It all blends in, surprisingly. And yes, for all the pervs out there, plenty of big breast and groping going on.
Sound: 7 - Sound is just good. Not great, but not bad so its a 7. Its not like Guilty Crown where the sound plays a big part in the emotional development of the story. Its good enough to be there, but sometimes it just blends in the background, not being noticed.
Characters: 8 - i was debating with myself on this one. I was supposed to give it a 9 but i ended up giving it an 8. In truth, there are a lot of characters in this anime. Some major, some minor. And they are all diverse. A representative of each and every faction of the society in the world where this anime resides. That alone should have given it a 9 or 10, but the it is also the reason why i gave it an 8. There are too many characters in this anime. With only 13 episodes, character development is out of the question. The main characters backstory were given proper time, but not enough to develop an emotional connection to them. I just finished watching the 10th epsiode, and altho i do like a few of the chracters, and for sure i do want the boy, to meet up with his girl, but if one of the characters should die, i'd prob just say meh...and move on.
Enjoyment: 7 - I gave this a 7 instead of an 8. I enjoyed watching it now, but heck, it game me a headache in the beginning trying to figure out the story.Overall, i like the setting and the world, but watching anime isnt supposed to be this confusing in the beginning. The main purpose of watching anime is for enjoyment and relaxation, not banging you head on the table trying to figure out things. Im all for more intellectual plot lines, but lets just say, not what i expected when i started watching it.
Overall: 8 - Its an 8 overall. It a good anime, if you can last up to episode 4 or 5. But in the end the art, characters, and eventually the story won its way to my like list.
On a side note, i really do hope that there is a continuing season for this. after watching episode 10, it seems the series will end when our hero rescues the girl, but there are so many things that are happening around them that it might deserve a second dive into this series.
Oh yeah, i just wanted to add, the hero in this story... well, he is the most unlikely personality i would expect to be the hero, this of course is an opinion after watching 10 episodes. It would be fun to think the writer would have another side to him in the last 3 episodes that would redeem this curious, but unorthodox personality of our hero.
Update: I just finished watching all the episodes of this anime. And i am glad that it is confirmed, the second season is on its way. To be shown in the summer of 2012. I cant wait.

A Review in one word: Epic...
I've always said in my reviews, watch the first episode of any anime series and if it doesn't grab you and make you want to watch the next episode, then its a good bet its not for you. But Guilty Crown, oh wow, i didnt think that i would encounter an anime that will be able to grab me with the first 30 seconds of the anime.
I am both saddened, and happy at the outcome of this. Happy because i have found an anime that is looking more like its going to be added to my list of all time
...
favorites, saddened because the anime is still ongoing. I only start watching anime when the series is over, i really do hate waiting week after week for the next episode. But when i was just reviewing the animes that just came out and i was downloading, i never thought that watching the first minute of this anime would end me finishing the entire epsode.
For the basic review, i have only watch the first episode and i had given this anime a 10 across the board. Of course this will change as the anime progresses. I really hope that what i saw in the first episode continues on the succeeding episodes.
I had described this anime as Epic, primarily because it is. From what i can tell its your basic story plot, great crisis, and a boy coming to age to save or help out. But what makes this First episode Epic, is undoubtedly the music. ITs the first 4 min of this anime and the last 4 that are the biggest scenes in this episode. The rest is there to continue the story, and introduction of characters, backgrounds to the story ect. But the music is the biggest draw to this, especially the last 2 min of the episode.
If i would compare it, it is like watching the cut scenes of any final fantasy game for the first time. Extravagant scenes, or touching scenes that has the greatest accompaniment of music. If you didnt like this one, well all i can say is were really not compatible with out likes in anime, so why are you reading this?... lol

I am torn on writing this review. Primarily because i used to be an avid fan of the comic book way back when i was younger, and the X-men have been my fav comic book group for so long. I really don't know where to star with this one.
Upon writing this review, i had just finished watching the 4th episode, since it is the latest release. I'll prob revise this again after the series finished so this review is my initial impressions of this Anime.
To start off, i can see that this is way better than the wolverine anime in terms of overall impression.
...
I was never really at ease with the wolverine anime since it really was a far departure form the original american series. With this one, it feel s like the animators had adopted the Ultimate version of x-men where its a bit darker than the other forms of x-men comics. It also shows in the art and all the characters are fairly serious and stern looking.
In anycase here is my initial assessment of the Series, as of 4 episodes.
Story - 7: - So far i have given this a 7. Its been just 4 episodes but the story arc seems interesting. Almost original storyline, but i cant say since i am no more versed in the x-men lore. Other guys would prob comment on the storyline better if it was similar to any other arc in the x-men comic series. But so fat it very good. Without giving any spoilers for the ones who haven't watched it, Events happen one year after jean grey (phoenix) dies and the x-men goes on their separate ways, only to be brought back together by Prof X because of a series of suspicious evens.
Art - 8: - I gave this an 8. Its not your standard anime. But its not your typical western art also. Its funny to think that its almost a mix of the two. In the end i like the anime art of this one, a bit dark and brooding. It gives another dimension to where the story is going, Its a serious anime that needs a darker art direction i say. On a side note, i like the animation on this one opposed to the wolverine anime, but thats just my opinion.
Sound - 8: - I gave this one an 8. I like the intro, music. No singing, just background music and fits well within the contents of the anime. Altho, aside from the music, I kinda feel a disconnect with the voices of each characters. Years of watching this series made by westerners had drilled into my brain on how each characters should sound like. It was a bit rough for me in the beginning, but u get used to it as you watch episodes. On another side note, first time i heard Prof X's voice, i distinctly remember saying to myself, that Prof X sounds very much like Mr. Miyagi from the karate kid, but thats just prob me.
Characters - 9: - I cant say much about this one. Its the X-men, and i love the X-men. The main characters at least have remained true to the original. Wolverine still pisses people of. Storm still is the voice of reason, Prof X is still the mentor person, so on and so forth. There are a few characters that strayed of a bit, but not to much like Emma Frost and a few others but its understandable.
Enjoyment - 7: - Here is where it gets interesting. Your definition of enjoyment might differ from mine. Enjoyment is a 7 because its a serious anime. No laughing parts here, so if your looking for a good time laughing this is not the anime for you. But i fairly enjoy this type of series, but it only gets a 7 NOW because, well because the anime i watched before this one is Needless, and that was one funny anime, just need some time to adjust my brain to a more serious mode.
Overall - 7: - Overall for now is a 7. I have to finish the anime first then revise this review. But in my opinion, it could only jump one spot its either going to be a 6, or go up to an 8. It all pretty much depends how the story will unfold, it might even stay at 7. All in all, if your a fan of the X-men, i say this is worth watching. If your not, you might not like the serious tone or the characters of this Anime. As always, download the first episode, if you dont like itm you'll prob not like the rest of it.

Well, i hadn't had this much fun watching an anime for some time. It was first aired in Dec, 2009 but only found this particular anime about 2 weeks ago. Didn't watch it right away, but when i watched the first episode, i couldn't stop watching.
Very few Anime's hook me like this one. It reminded me of Gurren Laggan for some reason. I'm not very versed in the Anime lingo, i cant tell you that this is a seinen or shounen or what not. I just watch them cuz i enjoy watching anime. Doesn't really matter to me what it's called do don't expect anything
...
on this review to have that much depth. All i am here to do is tell you what i think... and i think this is a great Anime to have. So lets go down to the scores...
Story - 7: - Well i rated this a 7 because as I've said before theres nothing new here. Post apocalyptic world with people that have super powers and theres one nut that tries to rule the world and the heroes goes out and stop him. Altho if you go to the story, that really wasnt their goal, it just happened to end that way, which made for an amusing story.
Art - 8: - I gave this an 8. To often do i see anime that is consistent throughout the series. There will be a few episodes that seems that the producers used a different animator. For this series, it didn't come often, and the ones that did, turned to to be a more stylized and a rush job. In anycase Gurren Laggan had the same thing.
Sound - 7: - Well nothing spectacular here just good. There were sounds, and background music but nothing that really popped out as good or bad. Opening and ending themes were standard and ordinary, even now as i'm writing this review i cant remember the Intro and Ending music. It isn't bad either, its just there and unremarkable.
Characters - 9: - Here is where it gets interesting. Without going into details and bordering on becoming a spoiler, the characters they had were interesting to say the least. Everything from am anti-hero hero, cute girls that constantly show their underwear, to multiple personalities and character types, including the " cliché" types that are abound in any anime genre.
Enjoyment - 9: - I had a blast with this anime. Every episode was either entertaining, Amusing, to total laughter. It was enjoyable to say the least. It pokes fun at every anime you can imagine, and most of the time, it makes fun of itself. There are times where the characters are even aware that they are in an anime and make fun of each other. Lines like "I cant believe that a minor character like you without powers is even in an anime like this.." just takes the cake in making fun out of everything. And when it seems that it couldn't get any better, they snuck in a love story without you noticing it. Man, that caught me off guard. In anycase Total Enjoyment start to end.
Overall - 8: - I have the overall score an 8. It could have been higher but i'm just going on the average. Story and sound gout it down to an 8 instead of a 9. But don't let that 8 fool you, if you enjoy a good laugh or just tired of serious anime, and just want senseless fun, this is the anime for you. I highly recommend you watch this. As always, if your not sure, Download the first episode and watch it, It it doesn't tickle your fancy than don't continue, for me at least, the first episode was enough for me to say Hell yeah..

First of the Bat i would Like to say that this is my first review. Why i did it for this anime is beyond me. Second i would like to say that i am no expert with anime. I'm just your regular Joe that has a lot of anime and likes to watch em, so i wont go overly critical to my review. I'll just say write in why i scored the way i did in each of the categories given to me.
Story (6-fair) - Well I've watch a lot of anime. i have over 400 in my collection. and to tell you the truth,
...
watching all of them you'll soon realize that plots are rehashed all the time. It might be a different setting, characters, and events, but if you dig deep into the basic plot, you could usually count the different kinds they're using. This anime is no exception. its your typical harem scenes. One guy and a bunch of girls. plot line revolves around girls pilots, and the only Guy in the world who could pilot the Power Armors. of course, the girls fall in love with him because hes such a nice guy, revolving around that plot, they placed in action, power armors, and a mystery. Its not your award winning story, but if you want original, those things are usually reserved to the drama anime. I gave it a 6 because plots thin, but very enjoyable.
Art (9-great) - I like the art direction to this one. Its nothing i haven't seen before, but animation is smooth and consistent. Unlike some anime, that seem to dull down when you get to the middle of the series, or seemed rushed, and cheap during some fight scenes like in gurren laggan, so far its been consistent halfway thru the series.
Sound (7-good) - Sound, well i really didn't notice anything good or bad about it so i gave it a 7. Its good, Not great, but not bad either. All in all, nothing significant to talk about.
Character (8-V.Good) - Characters are good, aside from the robots and the fighting, the anime does touch up on the character development. Not so much for the girls, but more of the main star and only guy. Stories usually revolve around the girls and how they are connected to the main guy. Big diversity of characters too, given the fact that its an international school, and so far, Japan, England, France, and Germany, are represented. Good mix of characters and personality.
Enjoyment (9-Great) - I really like anime like this. Nothing hard to think about, and i like the interaction of the characters. Primarily because its one of those fast anime. There are only 12 episodes to this series, its halfway, and they're very aggressive about the story telling. I like this anime also because i'm partial to Sci-Fi and Mechs, and Power armors.
Overall (8-V.Good) - Overall i gave this one an 8. I enjoy watching it, and there are a few anime out there that i do actually wait for to come out to watch the next episode. Its not a smart anime, bring nothing new to the table, but highly enjoyable. Even the little humor that is inserted here and there are noticeable. But if you taste is not like mine, you might not like it. All i can say is watch the first episode, if that doesn't hook you in, then the rest wont either.
Enjoy
