Gantz is many things, aside from being one of my favorites, it is also met with great criticism, and may very well not be your favorite. Most of the backlash stems from its seemingly dull, sometimes annoying characters and their actions e.g. their hesitation to "pull the trigger" when the situation is dire. Or possibly even the slow-burn plot progression and the multiple episodes of nothing but character development sans fight sequences. I however saw all of these things as near perfect.
