Before I say anything, listen all you people planing/considering to watch Lucky Star, this is an anime for people who like random things and can basically laugh at anything even to the people of talking to themselves out loud discussing what they think is going to happen next. If you are a serious person who never laughs or thinks everything has to be perfect this is not the anime for you.
At first I thought it would be one of those boring "high-school-girls-talk-about-guys" show. But after watching the first episode, the first thing that came to my mind was...RANDOM! I find it amazing how they can
...
have such a random show, and yet make it so awesome!
I could relate to most of the characters, especially Izumi Konato as I too am an anime fan and have problems laying off it to do homework. It is definatly not your typical slice-of life sort of anime. It is BEYOND ordinary.
I couldn't give it full marks for story because well, there is no story line. Unlike some slice of life animes, this one doesn't have a storyline, but hey think about it, how much story is actually in you life? Go to school/work, play computer games, eat, sleep and if your a good student (which I am not) you would do your homework, not much of a life story is it. But this anime could use that random stuff and yet still make it interesting which I believe it really deserves credit for.
The art. Sure for as seventeen year old, they sure look ten, absolute unrealistic, but this is anime. How realistic are anime characters with pink and blue hair running around shooting laser beams out of their six arms? If you ask me I find the drawing style rather cute. It doesn't matter if they don't look their age, its anime for heavens sake.
The opening isn't exactly the best song I've ever heard in the world, the first four episodes I found it increadibly gay in fact. But later on, it was really catchy and before you know it, it became my ringtone. I am the sort of person with no paitence, I like to skip the openings and endings and only watch the actual content, but I could not bring myself to skip Lucky Stars opening because it was super super catchy. Though I have to admit, I still skip the ending including Lucky Channel.
How are the characters not likeable? I mean, their so random and absolutely human. Full of flaws. Unlike most animes which make you want to be like them because they are so perfect, this one makes you laugh at their flaws and think, I am kinda like that too LOL. Izumi is my favourite cause we both love anime, she is absolutely random and can only think about anime, manga and computer games and only after than can she even be bothered, and if at all, to copy homework. The Lucky Star characters are more human with all their flaws, and make you feel better, people often compare themselves with anime characters and then just laugh it off saying "their is no way i can be as perfect and that." But in Lucky Star you think "Oh, that is just like me, now that I think about it, its time to call Melissa about tomorrows maths homework." I am sure most people that watch this can at least relate to one of the characters if not more.
Enjoyment TEN!!!
