My 1st Impression
I saw this manga around 2021 but didn't really care about it because judging by the cover & the tittle ("Oshi no Ko" in Japanese means the idol that I simp for), I thought it's either going to be the same types of every idol manga which is rainbow & sunshine or it's going to be a romance story between a fan & the idol he simp for. I started to pick this manga up after watching The Anime Man's video in youtube reviewing this manga as "the dark side of Japan entertainment industry" & it's by the author of "Kaguya-sama Love is
...
War", which got me interested to check it out. Well, it have a rough beginning but the more chapters I read, the more invested I am with the story.
Story
The story is unpredictable so it's hard to expect what going to happen next, which is why it's a very enjoyable read but it does have a bad chapter 1 & that is the reason why the sysnopsis does not do the manga justice. Not to mention, chapter 1 is not where the true story begins.
The reason it have a rough start because of chapter, regarding the reincarnation. A doctor was simping on a 16 years old idol named Ai, who suddenly announced to the public on TV that she will be on a break due to health issues but then, Ai, who suddenly show up pregnant at his hospital room & he decided to help her deliver her baby twins but on the day before the twins were born, he got killed by Ai's stalker & was reborn as 1 of Ai's child. Eventhough it sounds ridiculous, I did like that it shows the dark side of idol industry in the 1st chapter by showing us that Ai, an idol, got pregnant when was just 16 & she must not let the world know that she is pregnant or she can't be idol anymore.
Things get better after chapter 1, because it introduced us the world of entertainment industry & the bond between Ai & her 2 children. So, at 1st, you thought this manga is going to be about the family relationship until the plot twist at chapter 9-10 make you realize that chapter 1-10 is only just a prologue. The tittle has been hinted that there will be story switch but because the sentence "Oshi no Ko" is usually used by Japanese when they asked who is their favorite idol, we didn't think that there is a 2nd meaning (Besides female, Ko also means child/children in Japanese so "Oshi no Ko" can also means the child/children of the idol I simp for).
After chapter 10, the tone of the story changed & the true story start at chapter 11. Without spoilling the story too much, the story of this manga is about Aqua's revenge with mystery & how the entertaiment industry works & the dark side of it. Aqua become an actor to find his dad (Ai never told anyone who is the dad but Aqua suspected that he is also part of the entertainment industry) to avenge his mom. To me, the story gets interesting & unpredictable from here but you need to read the prologue in order to understand the twins & Ai's relationship & what make the twins become who they are.
Characters
Definitely love the characters. The characters felt so human & realistic. For now, there is no characters that I hate. My most favorite is Aqua & Akane because having Aqua focused in the story, we get to explore the dark side of the entertainment industry. As for Akane, I won't tell say why I love her due to spoiler. All I can say is that she does get involve herself too much in Aqua's revenge.
Art
The art is amazing.
Conclusion
It's a rough & weird start if you don't like reincarnation stuff but please give it a try & I'm sure you'll love it. If chapter 1-10 (prologue) still doesn't hook you, keep reading until chapter 31. If you still don't like it after finish reading chapter 31, then maybe this manga is not your cup of tea.
If you like mystery & some shounen battle (not fight battle but acting, idol etc battle. Just like Bakuman with manga battle), you will definitely like this manga.

My first impression on the anime :
At first, I decided to skip this anime because of the tittle "Toilet" but then decided to give it a try because of the good review & the art style. I am glad I did not skip it. This anime not just become my most favourite anime in this season but also become one of my most favourite anime I have watched.
Story
Pros :
Without spoiling, all I can say is that the story is based on a popular urban legend in Japan known as Hanako-san (the real Hanako-san is a girl but in this case, it's a boy). It
...
does starts off as a comedy series but as the story goes, we get hints that Hanako's past is not as simple as we thought & it will get a little darker (the manga still have not reveal his past yet but there are some hints to it so we can make theories about it). Besides Hanako's past, there are other dark secret for other characters as well which I will not gonna spoil. I really like the way they make the mystery feels so thrilling that it makes me want to find out more about it.
Cons :
Some arcs from the manga are being cut off but of course, the anime is still very good.
Characters
Pros :
Every characters is very interesting & the more they were introduced, the more you want to know about them. For now, I really love Hanako & Kou because Hanako is the most mysterious one despite being cute & funny & Kou is just being best boy. & the villian is also interesting as well.
Cons :
As I mention before, some arcs in the manga are being cut off so obviously some characters development & understanding that might make a bigger impact on the characters' development & understanding are not as impactful as in the manga anymore especially in Kou's & a certain mystery character (not gonna spoil who but his identity is revealed in episode 7).
Art :
Very unique art style. It's cute & colourful but at the same time, you can feel the dark atmosphere or mystery in the art. & I think it is kinda unique that they make manga panels in the anime.
Music :
Catchy & great opening & great ending song & for the OST, although it is not memorable, it mix well with the atmosphere of the anime.
Overall
All I can say is WOW. It is so good that after episode 3, I went and read the manga because I cannot wait for the anime weekly. I was not expecting to be this good. The drawing may look cute & it does have comedy in it but there are dark theme is hidden in the comedy (something like Fruit Basket or Noragami but not exactly).
P.S. The mystery build up is fun, great & good plot twist so please make sure to BE CAREFUL NOT TO GET SPOILED before watching the anime because THIS SERIES IS BEST TO WATCH IT BLIND.

I remember I enjoy myself watching season 1 of this anime & it was an amazing experience but for this season, is still good but not as good as the last because I felt something was lacking in this season.
Story
The story is actually good but for some reason I felt like the anime cannot deliver the feeling we felt in season 1. For example, the punch Saitama make felt powerful & impact (sometimes it make it as comedy moment & it is funny) in season 1 but in this season, it just felt like "it is a punch" and nothing else. Besides that, the comedy
...
is there but for some reason, the comedy felt like is lacking something & does not deliver the feels we felt like in season 1. Another thing I felt in this season is that they try to focus the story on characters rather than the fight & the comedy like in season 1.
Characters
The characters is fine but it's just doesn't felt as cool & funny like in season 1.
Fights
The fights wasn't as cool, powerful or impactful as the first season.
Music
Season 1 opening song are way better than this season of course because the song in season 1 just suits the anime. This season opening is not bad but it does not give us the same feeling like in season 1. As for the soundtrack in the anime, is also not bad but is not memorable (well this is the same with season 1.
In conclusion:
Is actually good anime but of course, if you want to compare it with season 1, then obviously season 1 was way better. So, the best thing to watch this anime is just don't have high expectation & also don't compare it with season 1 then it will still be a fine anime.

I don't really watch sport anime since this is not genre I enjoy but this is actually a gambling anime in disguise as sport anime. The anime has it pros and cons:
The Good
1. Mind game
The mind game and the plot twist is not as thrilling as Death Note, Liar Game or any other mind game anime/manga but it is still enjoyable to watch.
2. Gambling anime disguise as sport anime
This is something we don't see quite often so this is actually quite unique because it felt new. Not to mention, it can easily attract people who is not interest in sport anime. So, for people who
...
never watch sport anime or never interested in sport anime, this will be their first sport anime.
The Bad
1. Art style
Weird and uninteresting art style. Especially the main protagonist looks like blond hair Hisoka from Hunter x Hunter.
2. OST
The ost is not really that nice or memorable.
3. Gambling anime disguise as sport anime
This depend on people actually. If the people who is like me, not really interested in sport anime, this is the anime where we will find quite enjoyable and new but for those who is into sport anime, might be a little disappointed since this anime aren't typically baseball anime they used to watch unless they are ok with psychological genre (of course, don't expect the mind game to be better than other psychological anime have watch before)
4. Baseball
I know nothing about baseball so sometime when they explain the rule of baseball really confuse me and not to mention, they mix it with mind game which sometimes make me more confuse. It would be appreciate if they do what Death Note does. In Death Note, in the middle of every episode (aka commercial break) there is "How to use Death Note" rule explanation so we anime watcher can pause the video and read the rule and when we understand the rule a little, we can get what is going on with the story.
Overall
Despite its cons, the anime is still enjoyable however, if you are watching this anime because of baseball, then I suggest it's best you skip this because it is not the same baseball anime you used to watch before unless you are ok with psychology genre but do not expect the mind game is as good as other psychology anime because the plot twist is not really that strong. This anime is worth to watch when you don't have good anime to watch this season because it's still an enjoyable anime to past your time.

As a manga reader, I know this anime will do well (story wise) because it is one of the unique shonen jump story I have ever read for a long time (along with Dr Stone). This anime adaption does justice for the manga. However, it does have its pros and cons.
The Good
1. Cliff Hanger
Just like the manga, every episodes always end with a cliff hanger and the anime did it as well as the manga.
2. Good moments that only manga can do but they can do it well in the anime
There are many shocking moment in the manga that anime can't do such as turning
...
pages, black and white artstyle etc. For example, the "Mama stare at Emma" part. That part make a lot of manga reader freak out because it didn't give the readers time to prepare due to the turning pages technique that most horror mangaka used. The story was drawn in panels then the audience got shock at that moment when they turn the next page which is a technique that anime can't use but the anime still manage to do that scene well because the technique they use is only anime can do that the manga can't do which is the camera angel and direction technique. Many shocking manga moments that can't be done in the anime they done is perfectly by using the only anime can do technique and manga can't such as voice acting, camera angel and direction, eerie music in the background etc.
3. Direction
My most worried is the 1st chapter (aka episode 1) plot twist. I thought they gonna do CGI but thank god they didn't. And not just that, they did that plot twist reveal is as great as the manga. Besides that, since this is a series involve death so I also thought the death part gonna get censor but thank god they didn't.
4. Soundtrack
Very good OST, opening song and ending song.
The Bad
1. Some parts in the manga are cut out
The anime felt kind of rush sometimes (manga readers problem). For example, the introduction of Sister Krone. There were suppose to be some moments of Mama's genius monologue before Sister Krone is introduced. Eventhough Mama's genuis monologue is not important, it should not be cut out because the introduction of Sister Krone is suppose to be a plot twist. In the anime, it is not. Besides, Sister Krone introduction, there are also some unimportant parts were cut out from the manga which actually disappointed the manga readers. However, this is not an issue for anime only watcher because eventhough some parts are cut out, the anime pacing is still good.
2. Thrilling & Anxiety feeling
Like I have explain in the Pros number 2, eventhough the thrilling experience does well in the anime because of the technique they use in the anime but the experience is not as good as the manga. The anime does experience well too but the manga does better because the manga really did not give the audience some time to prepare whereas the anime, they do give the audience some time so they can get ready for the shocking moment that were about to happen and this makes me disappointed.
Overall:
Other than that,it is a great anime. Anybody who love Death Note or Liar Game or any other manga/anime with good plot twist or catch and mouse chase story, will definitely love this anime as well.

I actually decided to drop this anime when it first came out and the reason I is because of the tittle itself (I felt the tittle sound stupid "Banana Fish") & the drawing does not interests me. Now is Fall Anime 2018 season & there is not much anime that interest me so I decided to watch Summer 2018 anime that I have drop by looking at others review. When I look at the review for this anime, I decided to give it a try because this anime scores quite high. OMG! I almost missed out this masterpiece.
A very well written story with unpredictable plot.
...
I like the fact that it makes me feel thrilling when watching it which I have not felt this way for a long time when watching anime (the more episodes I watch, the more thrilling it gets). Not to mention, every episode ended with cliffhanger. On top of that, I don't cry easily for an anime but this anime really hits me hard. I never felt sad, depressed & emotional for an anime for a long time.
Besides that, the pacing for the anime is fantastic (it's not so fast and it not slow. Something not many anime nowadays have nailed it).I also like that the story have touch heavy topics like child trafficking, rape, sex slave etc which is a topic not many story is brave enough to talk about despite this stuff is still happening in our world.
The soundtrack in this anime is amazing as well even though it might not be memorable as other anime. As for the both OP, I think is ok but the both ED is great especially ED 1. ED 1 fits perfectly for this anime & the character, Ash. ED 1 just makes me feel sad for Ash & feel likes I can hear him scream for help. As for ED 2, somehow it makes me sad & it give me chills when the song plays. The anime is not ending yet & I wish for a happy ending since Ash has been through a lot in his childhood & I want to see him happy but for some reason, the ED 2 makes me feel uneasy about the anime ending.
I am really regret that almost drop this masterpiece but I am glad that I have given this anime a chance. I should not have judge the book by it's cover.
