I once asked my friend “why don’t you like Dragonball Z” and he replied “because back in primary school (when it was very popular) I thought the aliens were creepy and disgusting.” That is how I feel about this manga, I just really dislike the idea of turning people into mechanical beings and on top of it trying to produce a drama manga out of it, simply because is cruel and they’re only expressing feeling programed into their heads, and hence I found it very hard to connect with cyborgs especially Henrietta and Rico. Well, at least that’s how I felt half the time, but ... I can’t say that the manga is bad because most of the drama concerning the REAL HUMANS was pretty good.

The manga also felt really slow at times, especially when it’s introducing new characters or attempting to add more depth to existing characters by giving more background info. Some of the intended drama was really boring simply because I couldn’t connect with the cyborgs, or maybe is just me not being used to the writing style but to give you an idea of how I felt while read the manga, imagine playing a video game where it took twice as long to kill your enemies and your enemies took twice as long to kill you than the game’s original intention, that’s what it felt like.

Because of the slow pacing many of the drama wasn’t memorable and made the over arcing story disjointed, also the full impact of the parts I enjoyed was taken away because of how bored I was at times. In fact the most memorable part of the story was the irony at the end of a chapter where Franca looked at Henrietta thinking she was a rich girl and said “Is girls like her we’re fighting to protect.” I mean there is something wrong when the most vivid memory of a story is a language technique used.

Overall I can’t say that it is a bad manga because some of the drama is pretty good. Lots of people seem to like it and I can understand why. To people thinking of reading this, I would say it might take a while for you to get used to the slow pace and writing style especially if you’re used to more childish themes such as Shounen like me.

i'm just going to get straight to the point, i rate anime mostly based on enjoyment, because keeping you entertained is the primary objective of any anime so there for i'm going to rate this anime quite highly.

as to why i enjoyed it i just like the genre of action mixed with eechi, but not too much eechi.the character are well drawn, and the art was really good. the action scenes were done very well and the comedy was quite good as well, the cabbage master thing was priceless. the dialog was really good as well, as in it fitted the tone of scenes perfectly ... and the opening and ending songs was good. i liked how prevy kept saying "bitching"

but i could totally understand why some people don't like this anime, i mean seriously in terms of seriousness and comedy it swing from one side of the spectrum to the other. one minute you see some fear grabbing cow tis' breasts, the next minute you see prez getting every single one of her bones broken. another thing is there are just way too many factions, i mean seriously there were about 4 factions in a 12 episode anime and thats not counting the sovereignty doll.

the plot was really confusing, mainly because the series was way too rushed. the sovereignty arc was really perplexing. the characters was pretty cliche as well.

Ok, this is my first review so keep that in mind. the main reason why i'm writing this review to question why people dislike this anime so much, i don't think is all that bad, if u're looking for the reason why skip to the last paragraph. It's not the best anime ever but it was defiantly enjoyable. i get how the world/setting doesn't really make sence the some people with a school full assassins, thieves, and super powered shrine maidens who carry guns and katanas. but i think u can over look that, i mean i didn't even think about that when i started ... watching the show.

some people think that the Sherlock Holmes, Lupin IV, Jeane of Arc, and Dracula stuff is totally unrelated, stupid and shouldn't in the anime but so what if aria and riko are ancestors of Sherlock Holmes and Lupin i didn't care about that at all. i guess they could have named the antagonists something else instead of Jeane of Arc and Dracula. but again, i just overlooked it.

i can understand why people didn't like the characters too well they did some pretty stipid things like ordering people to be their slave, locking the door and asking to have sex in the school grounds, putting a penicle in ur breasts etc but isn't that what a romantic comedy anime suppose to be like, i mean i could name so way worse perverted stupid scenes in other animes like Seikon no Qwaser, Sora No Otoshimono and high school of the dead. i do agree the Hysteria Mode thing was pretty stupid though.

there was one character that i hated and that was kinji, i mean seriously, they drawn him so badly to the point where it really didn't make any sence for any of the girls to go for him. he is totaly incompetent and a total idiot, except in Hysteria Mode but even then he's pretty bad.

But overall i don't think this show is all that bad, really. Reason being i like the action/romantic comdey genre and i liked the characters Shirayuki, Riko and Reki. i like how riko says her name, her recklessess, her unpredictable character and her combat skill. i like Shirayuki because of her combat skill and her emotional character and i like reki because of her emotionlessness. so that's the reason why i don't hate this anime. it certainly keept me entertain which is the main purpose of any anime. And i think the action scenes were done very well.
