If you were a fan of season 1 you may either enjoy this season or be severely disappointed. All the characters return and there are some great arcs for characters who previously did not get enough screen time. Unfortunately, I feel that Madhouse seriously dropped the ball on this one. I know that the studio has undergone a lot of turnover in previous years but this was the first show from them where I really noticed it. I genuinely feel like this is simply one of the greatest show's I have ever watched. The story and character development are spectacular. Not even one of the characters feel lacking in development or motivation and the delivery of such a complex and yet coherent story leaves me reeling. The only points I can bring myself to ding this show on would be the art and by that I primarily refer to the character design. It took me a few episodes to get over the whole anorexic slenderman look they've got going but the art style is beautiful aside from that fact.

The worst part about this show was that it showed considerable promise and utterly failed to deliver. The show established interesting characters and an intriguing plot from the get go and then lost sight of what it could've accomplished over the course of the series. By the mid point of the series I began to find the the constant main character deaths absurd. Don't get me wrong I appreciate when a character is killed for emotional or plot development and the occasional shock value kill is nice too, but akame ga kill really did lose any sense of purpose as characters were slaughtered left and ...
