The Quindecim is a place where people´s afterlife is decided by the players actions in a game, in which they are risking their lives.
The point is - they are already dead, but have no memories of their deaths.
This anime will let you experience a lot of dramatic outcomes of various persons´ lives.
The story is about a realm, dealing with the futures of the souls of dead people.
Two characters are playing a game depending their life on.By time they remember fragments of their life and drastically try to win in order to survive.By doing those extreme measures, they are being judged by the "arbiters" whether their soul
...
should be reincarnated or cast into an endless void.
The variety of the individual´s fates in each episode will make you feel for the characters and maybe even let you drop some tears.
The animation is very unique and is doing what it should:
it creates a dark and realistic atmosphere, which will make you feel being in this particular location- the Quindecim.
A successful job are the characters movements which are very fluid and realistic.
The backgrounds and their are just astonishing because of their colors and art, which are conveying the atmosphere on a whole different level.
Along with the soundtrack you can often feel the story or just the atmosphere, brought by varieties of styles and instruments.
The opening and ending are also done very well.
Nearly every character was well written because you could empathize for the most of them and feel their emotions. In the process of the anime you will experience the lives of normal people with dramatic fates, which are t pretty realistic and sorrowful.
All in all I was very impressed of this work.
The atmosphere, as well as the animation, along with the music and the seriousness of the plot just make it one of the best anime series ever.
