Story: [8/10]
The story revolves around our male main lead, Ichinose Kai, as he maneuvers his way into wooing our female main lead, Takanashi Riko. The story is in the perspective of Kai, the school's resident player! Incidentally, this "womanizer" falls for Riko who happens to be our unpopular tomboy. While the story maintains a fresh take on the popular guy-tomboy girl cliche: the drama, the misunderstandings or side plots can be a bit mundane and draggy at times. Kai and Riko definitely score points on the level of cuteness they exude from each other though!
Art: [8/10]
The art is very cute with their
...
round-ish shaped drawings and it matches the tone of the story (which is a bunch of cuteness and diabetes)!!
Character: [8/10]
The characters really carry the story for me. This manga is definitely a play on cliches, but the author really cares about her characters and gives them the development they deserve! Kai maturing throughout the story warmed my heart, and watching him squeal over Riko made me squeal in return! I also enjoyed some of the side characters and their own romance adventure (in fact, I probably shipped one side pair MORE than the main couple. Hint hint: bestie x cameragirl is a win for me)! However, I did find myself not caring for some other characters and skimming through their arcs. Overall, most of the characters were a hit for me!
Enjoyment: [9/10]
The characters are fun and the plot isn't heavy, making this a breeze to finish! This is by far one of the better shoujo mangas I've read. I am a firm believer that cliches are good for a reason and as long as your story has a fresh take on it, it'll be a hit! Of course there were some parts that were dull, but once they gave me the cuteness I needed, it was very an enjoyable read.
Overall: [8/10]
If you enjoy shoujo manga on the daily, I would highly recommend this one. The plot is simple and it's a fairly easy read. I found myself cheering on for the main leads with all my heart! When Kai felt disappointed or hurt, I felt just the same! I really liked that it was in his perspective, it's so rare to find a nervous dorky boy in shoujo manga I can't help but love this! I also LOVE the bestie and cameragirl, how can I get a love like that!?

Story: [10/10]
The story revolves around five girls and their struggles with insecurity, friendship and of course love! I've been following the manga since the anime came out and I definitely appreciate how far its come along. This is definitely a slice-of-life kind of manga, as it follows the girls and their daily life as they panic about boys, die from embarrassment left and right, and always finding a way to support each other in an interesting fashion. This manga always leaves a tinge of warmth in your heart after every chapter you read.
Art: [8/10]
Initially the art was fairly basic, but as the story progress
...
there was definitely an improvement in art. Their expression were definitely more drawn out and expressive, I was fairly impressed at how far the style changed! Personally for me, I adore the art very much.
Character: [10/10]
As someone who's been through the awkward teen girl adolescence, I couldn't help but love all these girls! They reminded me of my friends and the conversation we would have about boys or when we would make an outrageous game plan to solve a problem (only ending up in second hand embarrassment by the way!). Even the fights the girls would have echoed similar to my own friendship, and it definitely enhanced the story for me. I can't help but laugh along or cover my face in embarrassment when I read this manga. I feel for the characters tremendously and I want to be apart of their journey every step of the way.
Enjoyment: [10/10]
If you enjoy shoujo-esque slice of life manga, this is for you. There's a bit of romance sprinkle across the story but it really is about the girls growing up and figuring themselves out. This manga shows how powerful friendship really is and that romance is fun and all, but when you have your friends to share it too, it just makes it that much more fun!
Overall: [10/10]
I would definitely recommend this manga to anyone who wants to read something light-hearted and sweet. The problems that happen in the manga are almost always resolved in a few chapters and it is never prolonged for the sake of drama. The fights that the characters go through and the god awful thing called growing up makes it all that much more sweeter. The five girls have distinct personalities, that you may have seen before, but their interactions together make it unique and hilarious. I can just imagine having the same girl talk with some of my friends and I can't help but cringe and laugh at the same time.
I will definitely look back in fondness when I read this again and make sure to call up my friends for some dumb chit chat.

Story: [10/10]
Every chapter there is a hidden lesson. If you are able to spot the lesson Machida teaches us, it makes you feel silly. Machida shows how simple it is to be a kind person. He reminds me how beautiful the world is, or can be when you look at it in a different lens. Machida's world is a heartwarming story that I would recommend to anyone who is having a bad day.
Art: [9/10]
The art matched the story perfectly. I'm not exactly an art expert, but the monologue that Machida would have and the drawings that go together with his
...
thoughts was cleverly woven in, making the story much easier and enjoyable to read. While the art work itself isn't ground-breaking or awe-strucking, it definitely suits the story!
Character: [10/10]
I love Machida. He doesn't have this sad, edgy backstory to him that would make you empathize with him. In fact, I would say you would feel a bit envious of him! What really drives his characterization for me is his interactions with the people around him. Every interaction is impactful and meaningful, and I definitely did tear up in some scenes!
Enjoyment: [10/10]
I enjoyed this manga thoroughly. It definitely did not drag and I can't help wanting more chapters, I know that I would be entertained to no ends!
Overall: [10/10]
Machida-kun no Sekai was a fantastic read from start to finish. As the title suggests, the story was about Machida's life. The interactions between Machida and the people around him is a reminder that the world is not always as cold as it seems. Machida shows us, the readers, what it means to care for someone: be it a stranger or a family member.
Machida doesn't ask for anything in return, he simply does it because he can. His time spent with the people he meets and loves is the gift he receives and I think he knows that himself.
Machida may not be the smartest in the book, he may not be the most athletic, but he has something that not everyone has -- and that's what makes this a memorable story.
