Considering my previous controversial reviews, some might easily think that this is simply a joke review, but I've never once written nor rate anything that's not true to my heart and this particular anime, will have a short yet adequate review.


This anime isn't about cute girls. It's simply about dreams and passion, and a good one at that.

I hope more people can watch everything while trying to understand how the characters feel, not by only seeing it from a passive viewer perspective. That is to me, how everything should be enjoyed.

Somehow MAL prevents me from posting short reviews? Why am I being taught on how to write reviews? This is my reviewing style. I'm talking about irrelevant stuff and publish them as a part of an anime review? I acknowledge that this is a mistake in my part but i too believe that as an anime forum, i can write anything no matter how short or lack of character it is as long as i don't bother anyone, and without ill intentions.

This review might be short, but this is how I truly feel. That is to me how reviews are supposed to be written.

I want to start this review by saying that out of all the Isekai Slow Life anime and manga I've watched, Leadale is the only anime that gave me the sense of said 'Slow Life'.

I know it might sound unfair giving an anime with many faults, a 10/10. If i were to review this from a technical perspective, the story is bland, the pacing is everywhere, the plot is confusing, there were literally zero character development that i felt, and the art is hard to get used to. Leadale no Daichi nite, is definitely what i wouldn't call a masterpiece.

But through watching this ... anime, i finally realised what most other Slow Life anime had lacked. It's the feeling of Slow Life itself. I know it's hard to understand but bear with me on this one.
Watching the first episode of this anime felt bland, i thought i was going to drop this anime, but after i got used to the absurdities and the quirkiness of the author's storytelling style, i finally understood what the author was trying to present. "A life without worries and consequences" was what i felt from the anime.

From the first episode, we knew that Keina Kagami, or the more familiar Cayna, was once a child with a sickness that forces her to be bedridden for the rest of her life. Well, she got transferred into a VRMMORPG world where nothing could stand a chance in front of her gaze.
For some authors, this might be a *bit* too powerful. Other writers might start writing a new powerful enemies that the land have never seen, or a group of demons that might propose a threat to Cayna's existence. But no, exactly no other beings can stand in front of the strongest gamer weeb that had put in over thousands of hours of grind into the game. For me, this is the first reason why Leadale felt like a true slow life anime. The [Nothing and no one can defeat me] is one thing that every isekai slow life content should have.


I'll be quick in this section as it's a spoiler. I want to talk about the relationship between Cayna and people around her.
After a few episodes in, we can see how much of a jerk Cayna is towards her family members, as well as her newly found friends. I really like this aspect a lot. As a human being, everything that we do has consequences. If we were to act like Cayna towards other real people, i would 100% guarantee that you'll be labelled as an excrement. But after seeing how unchanged other people's view towards our main character, it gave this sense of [Life without fear of consequences] and honestly, this is the reason why i like this anime so much.

Last but not least, as you're able to see from Cayna's character design, she is an elf. The anime doesn't specifically say this but after years of watching anime and watching that movie about melting a ring in a volcano, i think it's safe to say that elf general have a long lifespan. As mere mortals, death is something most of us are afraid of, i too suffer from occasional existential crisis. [Living without worrying of death] is something i really felt while watching this anime.

I really hope that can summarize what i feel towards this anime. This isn't an epic journey about an isekaied character that went through hardships that later developed their personalities and eventually saving the world. This about enjoying what life had gave us. From the perspective of someone who was hospitalised for who knows how long, we can explore a new world, a peaceful one, that the author had crafted for us to enjoy.

TL;DR: This anime isn't perfect, but it gave me feelings that I've never seen in other Slow Life anime. Feelings are indeed subjective from people to people, but i do hope that you can feel the same thing i did watching this anime.

This anime is good. 10/10 in fact. I too am surprised when i first watched this anime. I mean, who wouldn't? In terms of overused materials, this anime got them all. Cliché plots, generic kirito-type character (they even got the same seiyuu wtf), cringe and emo MC, i mean damn, you name it all.

But the real reason why i rated this anime a 10/10 is because of the plot itself. It's clean, it's bland, and it doesn't even have any new contribution to the isekai genre. I might have rated this anime a little bit too high but please listen to what i have ... to say.

This might be a little bit too scientific. If you're one of the people who said "SAO is bad because tons of people say it's bad." then you're free to not read this essay.

What i want to explain, is about how clean the plot is. You might think it's lazy to make such a simple plot, but being simple in the world of infinite possibilities is actually the hardest thing to do. The author brilliantly starts and ends an arc without a single space for the sense of "uncomfortableness" to fit in. Yes, it might be cliché, but the cleanest of it is also something we need to give credit to the author. (I mean, making a long story without once making the readers feeling weirded out is extremely hard.)
Diving from one arc to another. It's really clean that you could even see the plot structure and it's especially good if you're learning how to write an engaging story. Basically like Nemo and other Disney movies that are also clean and solid in terms of plot structural management, but in anime version.

I'm not the type of person who would say "try making a story and see how hard it is". I understand that Seirei Gensouki is lacking in some parts like the art and the sound quality. I also understand that people are trying to find newer and more engaging stories to watch and were certainly disappointed after watching this. But if someone were to ask you how is Seirei Gensouki, you can say "Yeah it's pretty bad but it also got some good points in it" so you can sound a bit more intelligent. Or don't follow my advice im not your mom
