First of all, thanks for replying me with such a LONG GOD DAMN MESSAGE. I'll give you some advice: what defines a good debate is conciseness, of which you lack entirely. And please learn to structure your paragraphs, I had such a hard time following your logic.

From your MAL list full of fluffy shoujos that are not required to have "amazing" plot, I get why your taste for anime/manga would prevent you from understanding my criticism. Now onto my response.

It is generally accepted by the MAL community that a good anime/manga clearly explores the structure of the fictional world. "I don't think that Kusanagi's goal is to create a world, which is why she leaves out some details". Good anime develop their worlds entirely so that the audience is interested. For example, Code Geass explains the complex government system and racism within the fabricated world, which is extremely realistic and relatable.

Good animes have the most basic questions answered, such as what is Sowun's motive? What kind of manga doesn't address the purpose of the antagonist even at 132 chapters into the story? You stated that "there will always be questions and plot holes," but that is the very definition of a bad manga. There is just too much plot armor that twists everything to Yona's wishes and you can't argue that the author is doing this to convey a message. They are literally just bending the story for convenience and prolonging the series for money. "I think that what the author is trying to do is to tell a story with just the right amount of information". In my opinion, there was no information at all other than the absolute minimum as you've stated: "Kusanagi shows her readers what is happening and reveals a bunch, only if you pay attention. Like how, Yona probably stopped romantically loving Su-Won when she saw him kill her father." Thank you captain obvious.

Regarding Yona, she developed close to nothing and is a conventional useless heroine. It seems like harems don't mean much to you, but most people agree that if everyone loves the main character the anime/manga is bad. And there were so many instances when she would be close to death, kidnapped, threatened, etc because of her own mistakes. She decides to not use the dragons because she thinks that is inhumane, but she is literally a walking parasyte that can't do anything for herself. "But moving on, if she didn't get kidnapped what would you want to happen?" I would want her NOT TO GET KIDNAPPED and progress onto over throwing Sowun and gaining back her position. That is the real driving force of this manga and the author just decides to abandon it. Of course PEOPLE can't be perfect, but dragons with magic, especially like 5 of them SHOULD be able to protect a little girl. It is more unrealistic that supernatural beings can't do something so basic. And when they save the princess, it makes more sense to not be flashy and get the hell out of there.

Now onto the characters. I think you have misunderstood the difference between minor background characters and side characters. Her bodyguards are obviously important enough to explore their backgrounds completely. "But I think that the background stories really revealed why each character is the way they are and if you were looking for something amazing, I think that takes away from the whole story" I don't understand this grammatically erroneous sentence. Characters are supposed to do more than progress the plot and be empty shells with deep personality. Mangas that focus purely on the main characters, as you said "We are supposed to be focused on Yona and Hak", demonstrate that the author is terrible at developing characters. "And we are lucky to even get their background stories, if you ask me" <- this is wrong on so many levels because good anime develop ALL THEIR CHARACTERS. You've watched FMA, weren't all the characters memorable and different? Everyone had a back story. Also I would have respected the manga more if Yun wasn't there because that would be more realistic. Normally, escaped princesses in ancient settings like AnY would die of starvation or at least meet the challenges that Yun makes negligible.

Sorry if I sounded salty. Everything I've said is my opinion. I just wanted to point out that your definition of a good manga is generally accepted as horrible. Don't reply me, I won't reply you.
It’s time to ditch the text file.
