Wow, the second season of JJK Buckle up, because this season is a rollercoaster of supernatural battles, emotional depth, and stunning animation that solidifies JJK S2 as a titan in the anime world so get ready WHOO HOO!!!
Yea... I should sue every manga reader for false advertising.
Let's discuss the Hidden Inventory arc first. This arc in my humble opinion was the best of season 2. Story and character development. These two things mixed with the proper timing of amazing fight scenes is what makes a story great. It takes us on a journey into the past, revealing pivotal moments that

shaped the present. The focus on Gojo Satoru and Geto Suguru's past is a narrative goldmine. Their friendship, ideological differences, and the events that lead to the current situation were explored with such finesse. This arc stands out for its ability to blend intense action with deep emotional narratives and gotta say I was loving every second of it. The animation here is good, with fight scenes that are both visually stunning and emotionally charged. Plus, the way it expands our understanding of the lore of this world is just a chef’s kiss. (I have more praise for this arc but knowing what I must get off my chest I'll leave it at that.)
Transitioning to the Shibuya Incident arc, hold onto your hats because this is where JJK shifts gears into an overdrive of relentless action. This arc is like a grand symphony of chaos and destruction, setting the stage for some of the most intense battles in the series. And well that’s about it. now don’t get me wrong I love action on a scale that is beyond comprehension but only if I feel like what I'm seeing isn't just two very powerful individuals fighting for the purpose of it looking cool and nothing else, no substance just big explosions. Manga readers were given so much boom and Kapow there blood pressure and enthusiasm must've reached an all-time high whereas mine took a nosedive for the “adrenaline-pumping” fight scenes as this arc seemed to rely heavily on them, often at the expense of story progression and character depth.
I mean doesn’t facing unimaginable challenges and growing exponentially as a result sound like it should be an emotional roller-coaster? so why did I feel so platonic throughout most of the arc? Why didn’t I feel my heart drop for our characters as they were being dropped like flies? Why was there a twist at every corner yet you feel as if you're still waiting for the real twist?
Well for starters there's
CHARACTER (6/10)
At the end of season 1 there was for me at least a lack of connection to any character at all, it kinda felt like watching strangers deal with their life problems. Then the movie and season 2 rolls in and I now feel some connection and understanding of some characters. Well at least for Gojo and Geto, both characters who do not even exist for most of the second arc as Gojo is sealed and the current “Geto” isn't even Geto. So, the characters we were currently following lacked a lot of character development which was glaringly evident during their deaths that should have hit hard, in turn felt very shallow, often because they were dealt with for shock value. The attempts to stuff backstory or insights just before a character's demise felt like a failing attempt to create the emotional impact it intended.
MUSIC: 8/10
The sound design complements the seasons intense action and emotional moments. The OST resonates well with the tone of the story, though it doesn't always stand out. However, the voice acting deserves special mention for bringing the characters' emotions to life, especially in the more poignant scenes.
STORY: 6/10
While ambitious in scope, it's due to the Shibuya Incident Arc that caused a drop in grade. It felt somewhat overwhelming. The narrative tries to juggle multiple plotlines and characters, leading to moments where the story feels cluttered. The season does have its high points, with significant developments and shocking twists, but it often loses focus, detracting from the overall impact.
ANIMATION: 10/10
I mean no complaints from me I'm one that doesn’t care much for animation so when given something of this caliber your just left with nothing but gratitude. The animation remains a strong point, consistent with Jujutsu Kaisen's high standards. The battle scenes are fluid and dynamic, showcasing MAPPA's attention to detail. However, there are moments where the animation feels slightly less polished knowing everything going down in MAPPA at the time, I feel no need to diminish it for that.
OVERALL: 7.5/10 possible 8/10
Jujutsu Kaisen continues to be a standout in the anime world. This season was a testament to the series' strengths and flaws. Both arcs are essential for fans, offering so much fighting you begin to fatigue from it, deep lore, and character development that keeps viewers eagerly anticipating what's next. Although I was hard on the Shibuya Incident Arc, I felt it to be necessary as these problems can easily bring about this shows ruin. As a non-manga reader, I can do nothing but hope for this to be temporary.
