Ahhh Cross Game, in my opinion a very unique hidden gem in the pile of generic anime that has been coming out. This is one of the more authentic, pure and relaxing animes I have ever watched and definitely one that score on my top 10. The realism and charm of the characters is simply captivating.
To begin my review i would like to say that i don't play baseball and i barely know the rules. I usually never watched sports anime and for those shows that i watched none of them score among my favorite but this one. Cross Game is much more than a
...
sport anime and do not rely on unreal and exaggerated effects like say, prince of tennis.
The music is great, the art is simple yet effective where it needs to be.
The story is very straight forward and simple. As i said this is a relaxing anime although the games do manage to get you to the edge of your seat.
What it's truly outstanding in my opinion are the characters. 90% of the anime out there now are played by characters that are just unreal. Cross game, however, manages to deliver great characters that you can identify yourself. Aoba in my opinion is the of the more authentic tsunderes you will find and kou is not a blind guy like most animes do.
Overall give this anime a chance unless you strictly want action and blood. Cross game is just an anime that will make you smile, root for their team and cry. Right of the bat i kicks of with a strong plot and there will be cliffhangers through the series that will make the 50 episodes pass with a breeze. it does gets a little bit slow towards the middle but i think 50 episodes is a great number and there is hardly any filler.
Overall i enjoy this series a lot the humor is great and it one of those animes that leave you with a bittersweet feeling since it leaves you wanting for more but you know that the ending was perfect was it was.
