This manga series is short enough to be a light read, but also long enough to go into its themes extensively.

The themes of death, letting go, and moving on are usually quite heavy. Still, this manga manages to weave through them carefully using lovable characters, beautiful visuals, wholesome events, and kind philosophical words that are easy to decipher and resonate well with the reader. This makes the manga expertly deal with heavy themes while not being triggering to sensitive readers.

I would recommend everyone read this manga to remind themselves why life is worth living. Readers who are not inclined to read fantasy should also pick ...

TRIGGER WARNING: sexual abuse and rape are featured heavily in this manga.

negative: The idea that there are many short stories intertwined in one universe is interesting, but it's not done well. The chapters are 3-5 pages long which doesn't allow you to connect with characters. It does start tying things together at the end, but I still don't care because I don't know much about the characters. It's like a failed attempt at Uzumaki by Junji Ito.

Positive: The art.

WARNING: do not read the last personal chapters in volume 5. The author retells his struggles with a curse which spreads by him telling people about it... which he stupidly does in these chapters.

Preliminary (10/? chp)
The first story comprises of 6 volumes, but I stopped at volume 5 because it was becoming a chore to read. There is too much text for this to be a manga. According to the author's notes, the manga is an adaptation of the original novel. It is often mentioned in these notes that there was a problem with putting too much text in a single panel, and it turned out to be true. The story is good, but does not have enough depth to warrant such a long reading effort. I would rather spend my time and money on other manga.

It’s time to ditch the text file.
