No problem man, I feel you; I’ve been working six days a week recently so I know what it’s like.

I know right? “Your Lie in April” is actually pretty short compared to some other titles. I just watched one called “Hensuki: Are You Willing to Fall in Love With a Pervert as Long as She’s a Cutie?”. I’ve seen a few that are more than one sentence. Lol

Well, it depends on what you’re looking for but I’ll try to recommend a little of everything:

Your Lie in April - My all time favorite romance; no words can describe the sheer beauty of this series! For me, it was the first serious anime I ever watched and it literally changed my outlook on anime and visual media in general. It’s something I think everyone should see at least once in their lifetime. Very inspirational yet VERY SAD; just a fair warning but I cried for a week afterwards. I would say it has more drama than romance, but the romance plays an important role.

My Love Story!! - My second favorite romance ever except this one is on the opposite side of the spectrum - it’s a light-hearted comedy! SO cute and funny and, while parts of it are so perfect it seems a bit unrealistic, other parts are so relatable. To me, it basically represents the kind of relationship I’d want to have with my partner. The series isn’t for everyone because it is aimed more towards a female audience so there’s no fanservice and a lot of fluffy, emotional stuff but I just love it’s fun vibe! Definitely in the rom/com genre.

Tsukigakirei - The simplest yet sweetest anime I’ve ever seen. It was actually recommended to me by someone on MAL so I gave it a try and fell in love immediately! While the animation isn’t the highest quality nor the characters the most interesting, it makes up for by displaying this beautiful budding romance as it blossoms into first love for two innocent middle schoolers. I cried again with this one only those were tears of happiness. Pretty much a straight up romance, plain and simple.

Gamers! - Another rom/com about a group of five high schoolers who end up getting into this really awkward love triangle... or rather pentagon in their case. The show is build upon each of the characters misunderstanding the others, which just makes all of them even more awkward. Again, probably not for everyone, but personally I find it hilarious!

The Disappearance of Nagato Yuki-Chan - This is a spin-off of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya but I watched it before the original anime and still loved it anyway. While the original is more of a slice of life/romance/sci-fi, this one focuses almost completely on the romance. There is a twist, but two-thirds are literally about a shy girl trying to express her feelings towards the guy she likes. Very, very cute.

While those are my top romance picks here are some others that I’ve seen that are worth mentioning:
Teasing Master Takagi-San - rom/com, literally just about a girl teasing a guy she likes, that’s it!
Fuuka - romance/drama, this one has musical performances.
Hensuki: Are You Willing to Fall in Love With a Pervert as Long as She’s a Cutie? - rom/com, harem of girls with various fetishes fall for one guy
Recovery of an MMO Junkie - romance/drama, a more serious adult romance; not as in content just in the mood. Plus, the protagonists are in their mid-to-late twenties.
Masamune-kun’s Revenge - rom/com, a mean spirited comedy but oh so funny!
Fruits Basket - romance/drama, deep and heartfelt; this one is a more impactful romance.
The Quintessential Quintuplets - rom/com, just plain hilarious!
Tamako Market - rom/com, a simpler romance story that takes a while to get going; the ending movie is really cute too!

Sorry, I didn’t mean to go on for so long! I hope these recommendations help with your discovery of anime. :)

AnimeGo huh? I’ve never heard of that one... but I have an iPhone so that could be why. :)

If you like romance I have several I could recommend if you’d like. I’ve seen everything from tearjerkers to goofy to just plain cute!

Astra Lost in Space is so good. It’s about these eight high schoolers and a little girl who go into space for “planet camp” (I guess it’s like a survival test or something) but after they land on the planet they end up getting sucked into a black hole which transports them 5012 light years from home. So the team ends up finding a spaceship and they fly from planet to planet, learning more about each other and themselves along the way. There are some pretty big twists as the show progresses. I only have a few episodes to go; it is so good. It’s probably the best anime I’ve seen from this past season so far.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention I’ve seen SAO Alternative as well. It was enjoyable but not as much as the original show. It takes place in Gun Gale Online so it has a lot more guns than swords. Also, you should check out the movie Sword Art Online: Ordinal Scale. It came out a few years back and bridges between the second and third seasons of the anime. Absolutely epic movie! I don’t want to spoil anything but if you love Seord Art Online then you’ll love the movie!

Just curious but where do you watch most of your anime? Netflix? Crunchyroll? I use Funimation 90% of the time. I think most of SAO is on Hulu if you’re interested.

So I have never watched Danmachi but it’s really popular so it’s kind of hard to miss. It turns out they just recently announced a third season that’s going to be airing next summer. I’m pretty sure a movie was recently released as well (Arrow of Orion or something like that I think). Also, Shield Hero is getting not one but two more seasons. Not sure when they’ll air but it’ll probably be soon with how popular the show is.

Again, if you’re looking for more fantasy I’d go with That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime or Grimgar of Fantasy and Ash; both really good ones. Other than fantasy are there any other genres you like? What about sci-fi? I’m watching a really good s I-fi currently: Astra Lost in Space. I’d highly recommend it. :)

Hiya Eryn! Hope you don't mind if I comment on your page instead - I didn't want to keep adding to your introduction post. :)

So, how much of Sword Art Online have you watched? Did you get through part 1 of season 3? Despite it being my favorite anime I actually haven't seen any of season 3 yet; I prefer watching the dubbed versions so I'm waiting for the third season's dub to be out on streaming platforms. It seems like it's taking forever!

As for why Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls In a Dungeon? is called Danmachi, it actually comes from the Japanese title which is Danjon ni Deai o Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru Darō ka. If you look at the sentence you can find the words Danjon and Machigatteiru so I'm guessing Danmachi came from the beginning of those two words. I think it's just an extreme condensing of the sentence to make it easier for people to talk about. Who wants to go around saying that entire phrase every time you want to bring up that anime? Some anime titles can get crazy long so I usually come up with my own shortened titles just to make things easier. :)

Ah, yes, the female dog princess from Shield Hero. Indeed, I hated her too. In fact, I don't think I have ever hated an anime character as much as I hated her. So many people were raving about the show when it first came out because they loved how Naofumi wasn't overpowered and had to work to gain the people's trust but I personally found it very frustrating because everything seemed to go wrong for the poor guy. Raphtalia really saves the day because they even try to take her away from him but she chooses to stay by his side. As the show went on, I liked it more but it took a bit for me o get into it. Have you gotten up to the part where the princess gets what she deserves? Naofumi decides to give her a new name which everyone must use when referring to her. I don't want to spoil it for you if you haven't gotten to that part but it is so funny! :)
