While the themes are different, both are phenomenal at their ways of storytelling and are among the most intellectual shows i have ever seen. Both series also include a large cast of well developed characters. Both are Seinens.

If you liked Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann add

...then you might like Inferno Cop add

Both share some of the same key staff including the same director. Similar in how "over-the-top" they are. Inferno Cop is a comedy, while Gurren Lagann is a mecha action show.

While Mushishi is more fantasy based, the protagonists of both series travel to different areas and help people with their problems using their knowledge obtained throughout their own life.
