An anime that promises to be about super high school kids isekaid into another world where they can fully exploit their talents in a world that lagged far behind technologically, or it would've been if some bad plot about some overzealous psycho small fry governor who just refuses to croak didn't take over half the series.
Initially, the characters agree to take it easy lest they destroy the world, but then they spent the entire series doing just the opposite.
The story started turning for the worst when it tried to turn dark with some gruesome points revealed, but got quickly forgotten by the aforementioned plot which
...
framed itself as the root of the issue, although it actually only swept them under a rug.
Likes:
-The seven characters are mostly likeable.
-The seven characters are not all goody two shoes.
Dislike:
-Premise destroyed by some silly plot
-The whole God thing is not done well. Akatsuki as a character is not great.
-Mayo is really random.
-Main antagonist of the anime is too much of, well, everything.

After Nodame Cantabile, one of my most favorite manga, I was expecting a lot out of this series from Ninomiya-sensei. I happen to be very big on computers too, so I was excited to see what was in store. Ultimately, I was very surprised that this series took the complete opposite direction from Nodame and became one of the worst manga I've ever read.
Story: 3/10
From the start, the story is pretty shaky. The exaggerated hype around overclocking makes it clear that Ninomiya-sensei isn't someone who is knowledgeable on the subject and the degree of hype around simple ideas makes the story very
...
hard to take seriously, at least to me who is familiar with it. I did somewhat expect this going in though and was anticipating the romance part to make up for it. However, it turns out the entire story is one big NTRfest, which ultimately is what seals the score for story.
Art: 7/10
The art is typical of Ninomiya-sensei, something anyone who's seen/read Nodame will be familiar with. I quite like the art style actually, unique enough to distinguish the author without being terrible, but nothing that wows.
Character: 3/10
Another dive here. Our main heroine is the typical submissive female who enjoys getting abused and the story magnifies this in the worst possible way. If you enjoy this type of thing, try reading/watching Paradise Kiss (for whatever reason, I couldn't set that as a recommendation for this series). This fact is actually what disappointed me the most given Nodame's strong character. Our main character is a lost sap who runs around being an "OP character" but gets kicked to the wayside at the end for the shitty dude who is your run-of-the-mill jackass. Another character is a fat, rich stalker. I don't think I need to say more.
Enjoyment: 4/10
Given what I scored the story and the character, I don't think this needs much explanation. The only reason this even gets this high of a score is because of the mildly entertaining OC battles, but that's about it.
So as a final word, if you are thinking of picking this up because you enjoyed Nodame like me or many others out there, don't. Pick this up because you enjoy NTR and stories like Paradise Kiss.

I am actually quite disappointed with how Rin turned out. The story definitely had potential but it feels quite unfocused unlike Sakuishi-sensei's other works, such as Beck. For most of the story, it felt like it was a mix of Bakuman and Rin's adventures with her power along with a touch of bad love triangle, and they didn't really mix very well.
There wasn't a lot of romantic development between Rin and Fushimi and by the end, it just felt like they got together just because it was convenient, especially on Fushimi's side. Throughout the story, we saw something of a
...
love triangle develop and true to the harem cliche, Fushimi was never able to pick between Rin and his high school love. At the end, it felt like rather than chosing Rin, he went with her because the other girl gave up and got a real boyfriend and also because of him and Rin's past, rather than their current feelings. It felt very unsatisfying to say the least.
Fushimi's advancement as a mangaka also wasn't very exciting, unlike in Bakuman. There wasn't really any big hitches along the way outside of the whole erotic manga era and this is probably due to how unfocused the story is. But even the whole erotic manga era felt too similar with Bakuman and their whole gag manga stint.
The art is as expected of Sakuishi-sensei, the important characters are somewhat pretty while the rest of the cast is butt ugly. Not sure if Sakuishi-sensei is tryiing to say something here, but I won't speculate further as it isn't really something that he explored in the story.

This is a vastly overrated show that doesn't deserve it's high ratings. The story progresses only through the plot that came straight out of Ghibli movies. It's funny how many described this show as believable/realistic when the story's foundation is a mess of fantasy, incorporating the other world where we get talking sea-men, talking fire spirit, and eventually, tentacled alien invasion to wrap up the show. To add insult to the injury, over half the characters in the show can turn around from participating in a manhunt to turning completely around without batting a single eye. Said victim and bodyguard who
...
were subject to this doesn't seem to mind this either, even when she gets targeted over and over again by the very people she is working with. It's like they've almost turned assassination attempts into a running joke that is just thrown in randomly throughout the show, even until near the end, so much so that you wonder half the time when that backstab is going to happen.
To talk about the characters, I came to this show after watching Akatsuki no Yona due to recommendations, but was severely disappointed. While Balsa is a strong protagonist, she ends up being a generic bodyguard character. In fact, she could have been a male character without the story or plot changing too much. I feel like they had a female protagonist just because, rather than to show an actual strong female protagonist. Yona on the other hand, fits more into a typical pampered princess in some of her behavior but we get to see another side of her that is a strong, willful person who is willing to move forward despite her fear.
Moving on to other characters, ignoring the other side kicks Balsa has that are mostly there to move the plot, the other protagonist is Chagum. I have never seen a character so inconsistent in a show before. In the beginning of the story, he seems to be an obedient but willful boy who excels in certain stuff. By the mid-near end of the story, he has regressed to a crybaby who throws tantrums and shows great immaturity, something that isn't really seen previously. However, by the end of the story, he somehow overcomes this, although he still remains the obedient and mindless kid he ever was since the beginning. He lives on being his father's puppet for the good of the empire, happy ending, the end....right?
Overall, while the show can be enjoyable if you turn off your brain and ignore common sense, there are far too many things lacking in this show. My advice if you really want to watch this is, do so if you enjoy fantasy. I picked up this show thinking I would get a mix of character development between a strong female bodyguard and a budding prince who has to adjust to the commoner's way and what I got instead was a mix of action and a story written by someone who was under the influence of many drugs.
