Overview:
The first half of Trigun was episodic designed. The viewer gets introduced to the Sci-Fi/wild west world of Trigun and joins the protagonist Vash on his journey. Vash is displayed as a very humorous and kind person who always gets in trouble on his journey. He solves every difficult situation in a peaceful way but the result is often the destruction of his environment which leads to his reputation as Vash the stampede. During the first half to anime there are also some serious moments were the viewer can see that there is also a very dark and sad part about protagonist Vash. The second

half of the anime is more centered about this part of Vashs story which sets a more and more serious tone for Trigun nearing the end.
Story (8/10):
Like already mentioned in my overview the first half of Trigun was episodic designed. Every episode provided a little story with interesting characters and an interesting plot. Even if the endings of these episodes were simililar with the main protagonist saving the day the different ways to this ending were quite entertaining. During these episodes there were some links to Vashs which clearly showed me that there will be a main story at some point. These first episodes were really important to get to know some main characters and to show the viewer what kind of person Vash is.
The second part of the anime gets a lot darker and the topic death is a permanent follower. In my eyes the story lacked something at the end especially in regard of the protagonist.
Animation(8/10):
The art was quite good for an anime from the year 1998. Some anime today could look back to this anime to see what they lack.
Sound (9/10):
The opening of Trigun is perfect for this anime and the OST's never seemed out of place.
Characters (8/10):
I loved the most characters of Trigun and that leads to my disappointment. The reason is the wasted potential for some characters in my opinion especially for the character Legato. This character gets so much screen time and appears as the most gruesome villain for our protagonist. While the story was nearing the end I was waiting for some memorable interactions or a back story but there was nothing. Also, the existence of the female main characters was not good utilized in my opinion. They were mostly there for some funny scenes and at the end they were used for some sudden romance which didn't appeared before.
Enjoyment(8/10):
The combination of action, comedy and also drama was wonderful balanced which lead to an enjoyable 26 episode anime ride.
Overall(8/10):
Overall if you want an anime packed with action, comedy and also a deep story Trigun is the way to go.
