Having watched til episode 9, I do not understand why this anime is being shunned. The artwork is quite good and soundtracks really fit in with the theme. The OP is better than both Charlotte's and Angel Beats's ops.
Yes the the characters are not given as much depth as before. People keep comparing a lot of aspects to other works by Jun but this was a solid experience for me. I went with an open mind. It didn't have the weird super powers or any weird setting. Just a girl who claims to be god.
