I knew I'd get this question.
Believe me, no one else wanted to like To Be Hero as much as I did since I'm a fan of Nabeshin and all. But then I found myself not laughing any where near as often as I should have. Not to mention the sight gags made me do just that, gag with how gross and infantile they were. I'm no conniseur of hi-brow humor only (Prison School was one of my favorite shows from 2015) but there's a difference between poop being part of great joke and poop just being the joke. The more serious portions might've landed a bit better if they weren't wedged between crude humor that didn't work for me. There's also the matter of jokes in general just not landing but I can't be bothered to remember the specifics at this point.
Idk. It had the right premise,the right director, the right animators and the right seiyuu, so I'm baffled with how I ended up not liking it. It wasn't all bad though, some times it just worked off of good energy and well timed slap stick. That said, I'm still confident in labeling it as a disappointment.
