//In short:
>To watch or not to watch?
Definitely, yes, but only if you don't have something gorgeous at "plan to watch".
>For whom is it?
For ones who likes MMO thematic, fantasy genre and to watch for character's relationships and stories.
> What its about?
About nothing in general.There is no strict idea that slips throughout the whole story.
Well, lets take a closer look.

//Story.
Main story begins when some huge number of players found themselves stuck at fiction world of MMO game after the lastest "update".And here come an association with Sword Art Online. But while SAO was all about surviving at and conquering a hostile world - Log Horizon telling a story about living at another world.People really haven't tried to leave this place but tried to make it better for live.SAO its a story about a lone hero that shuts down a system, defeats two mad dragons and saves a princess "from another castle". And here is principal difference. In LH you will be told about advantage of team approach and cooperation.Main character and his mates will be trying to build and organize a new society that matches their views of justice.So you will see lots of politics and conversations, but quite few action scenes.Yes, this anime is not about fighting action(but there will be some epic moments).
In general, LH reminds me LOTR or The Hobbit (especially while mc and his mates traveled to help Serara) as if there wouldn't be an evil lord to struggle against + lots of social layer and political mind games. This story (at least at first seaon)is not about a game itself or a virtual world - i think they just used this setting to attract spectator's attention.Because no questions like "How exactly characters got into virtual reality?", "How its possible and in what kind of world they really got involved into?" were answered.People just accepted this new reality and almost completely forgot about homeworld.
Maybe in second season something will change, maybe at original novel/manga something was different against anime adaptation, but in fact what i saw here it's a social fantasy-based story wrapped into MMO-game cover.
However it was quite interesting to follow that story - during this show i've never caught myself on desire to stop watching or skip to next episode.Well, almost never.To be honest.
//Art
Talking about visual performance - enjoyable.
Not a genius visual but it makes its work for me.
//Sound
At most of times its just no more than good, but in some episodes, especially while some action scenes occurs, sound has its quite impressive guitar instrumentals.
//Characters.
They are not deep designed and I'd wanted more backstory but what we already have is enough for storyline.
So, what we have here?
1) Shiroe. Former cad engineer student ("Building a sentry!"), support class mage and local mastermind.Differed by intelligence and gumption.
One of the most calm and reasonable character.But even in terms that he is a tactical genius in Elder Tale's world, in fact comparing to other "everything-goes-as-planned" anime heroes Shiroe looks faintly.But more realistic.
2)Akatsuki. 90lv Assassin aka "miss sudden appearance". Playing a role of Shiroe's personal bodyguard.Someone may assume she just likes roleplay but we know the truth.
Pretty cute girl also.Henrietta approves.
Like a true assassin should be - complete mystery.Who was she at real life - classified information.Except, she is not a loli in real life in fact.
I didn't remember anything else about her character's backstory...maybe because she is not talking too much about herself during storyline.Maybe because nobody cares :(
Unfortunately.
!Pww, yellow spoiler alert!
Well, and talking about Shiroe and Akatsuki relations, i personally can't understand how this guy can be so smart and so blunt at the same time.Maybe he just so involved into global business(btw, he really is) or believes that her straight allusions are just part of roleplay, but... its too silly for this kind of character like Shiroe i think.Such things makes me sad. However, lady suffers all season long.
Next two are formally main characters and best friends of Shiroe, but i think they have more supportive roles because of low influence on storyline and and even less designed compared to first two.
3)Naotsugu.
Tank class warrior.Wears heavy armor.Absorbs damage.Friends with Shiroe.Pervert.Sometimes he tries to joke and...absorbs damage.
4)Nyanta.
Kawai cat being.
Gentleman person with double rapiers.Serara approves.
A chef of God and just a nice guy who maintains a friendly atmosphere at Log Horizon.
//Conclusion.
Well, i think the main flaw of this anime is that it just good one. Not bad and not perfect.This one didn't leave me with bright (or dark and philosophical)impressions after watching but it was interesting experience.
