For anyone who's ever seen Kite (A Kite) and enjoyed it, then Rin: Daughter of Mnemosyne is your next show. Rin is a detective/action show from 2007 so it has that Neon Genesis Evangelion original airing look because for some reason animation was the same for 20 years until we hit like 2009. Rin Asougi runs her own small business with her partner Mimi and dog Genta and help people along the way that get into trouble that evolves on a supernatural scale. The basis of the show is angels and immortals being born from the Yggdrasil tree passing off forbidden fruits that enter the
...
body. If it enters a woman they become immortal. If it enters a male they become angels and go out searching for immortals to have sex and kill them. Yes they have sex and kill them at the same time. There is nudity in the show but it's not solely for fan service, it also sets the mood for what's going on. A little more nudity than there needs to be though I will admit that. Lust plays a strong role in this show especially towards the later episodes.
The show takes place over many years, like 50+ and you can see the changes in the other characters which is a cool thing. It's not like they're getting into supernatural mysteries every day like other shows do and I respect that aspect of this show but you never have one solid supporting character. You get kinda attached during the miniarc and then they have to go because they're too old but you do keep up with their families which is awesome.
The characters are really great. Rin is such a badass. Mimi is the best partner she can have being a super tech geek and they have a dog! The dog doesn't solve mysteries with them, no, but he's there for moral support when they get back. The music is kinda funky because it's an older show. I mean 2007 doesn't seem that old but it kind of is. The OP and ED themes are GREAT though. The action is obviously the best part. Sure there are plot holes and things that they explain with crap but that's not often. The real focus is the action like I said.
It consists of 6-45 minute episodes but they keep your attention all the way through. I was never bored watching this show.

This was my first time watching the Fate/ series.
Fate/Stay Night UBW has exceptional animation and illustration. To go along with great animation the anime showed off great action and enjoyable characters. The purpose of the show is clear from the prologue, Holy Grail War where a wish gets granted to the winner, but I don't quite get the main character's real purpose. The main character is a schoolgirl who seems to not know much but really she's an awesome mage and a nice girl whose servant, Archer, is also a major badass with a mysterious identity that hasn't been revealed yet. He wields two blades
...
but can summon a vast amount even though he's an Archer class servant which I found very interesting. It was a good way to make you want more from the show.

Wow so Blood-C.
I can summarize it with one sentence but I'll go on. Blood-C is about a high school girl who's part demon (Elder Bairn) or something (skimmed through all the good parts on YouTube but still got the main idea) who makes a promise to a dog that can talk (assuming he's a spirit, it actually never says) that she has to save everyone from monsters in her town. She discovers she's part demon and can fight these monsters that eat the people in her town with a sword that was supposedly blessed by a maiden in the old shrine she lives in
...
with her father.
The animation was REALLY good. That's probably the best thing I'm going to say about this show. The music was that kind of thriller, monster fighting scary music. It wasn't good but it set the mood.
These monsters that killed the people were BRUTAL. I have never seen a more gruesome show that animated killing people in such a fashion. The only thing that kept me watching (skipping through the show to gory parts) was the shock factor of seeing these people maimed and killed unreasonably. And no one is safe but the main character which sucks in my opinion. Everyone around her is dying and just when she dives and saves a guy and you're like, "Whew at least she got that one," *Monster knocks her out of the way. Spiky tentacle goes through the guy's face that she just saved.* This show was twice as gory as Elfen Lied, and drawn in detail. One person dies while running away from a monster and gets hit in the neck by a big piece of falling glass from a window. No one is safe.
The action is pretty good when she's fighting the monsters because she's not getting beaten to a pulp, partially eaten with parts of her limbs falling to the ground, or getting impaled. The main character is fun and nice in the beginning but turns out to be a crazy half demon killing machine in the end who's trying to take down the person responsible for all this. Typical plot for a show about a girl who has to save a town from monsters though.
The ending. The ending was one of the crappiest endings I've ever seen for an anime. It was almost like they added this ending in last minute to explain why everyone was killed.
TL;DR: Blood-C was the goriest show I've ever seen with a brutal way of killing people that surpasses people getting killed by Titans in AoT and anyone killed by a diclonius in Elfen Lied. The only thing they didn't include was torture. Great animation, pretty good MC. Horrible story.
Blood-C: 3/10 (Very Bad)

Alright so Gokukoku no Brynhildr (Brynhildr in the Darkness)
The music was just really weird. We'll start with that. The first OP is dubstep for some reason and it really doesn't fit the mood of the show at all which is supposed to be kind of dark mixed with some happy scenes. Then the first OP stays throughout the show until the last like 4 episodes and it turns to metal which still doesn't fit the show. The ending theme was a nice little thing that absolutely did not fit the show. The OP and ED vids were appropriate though. The first OP showed blood
...
on the young girls' bodies which was a sure indicator that there was more to come.
The themes of the show were very weird. I started it thinking that it was a normal show and there'd be blood but not many deaths. Actually more people die than I thought and some people that you don't want to die, do. The lack of deus ex machina actually does this show justice because it doesn't turn the show completely into a teenage witch killer show. Lots of ecchi in the show for no reason. I think they were trying to create an uneasy atmosphere by juxtaposing really sad and dark moments right next to happy scenes with nudity.
LOTS of ideas were taken from Elfen Lied. You could say that this show was heavily influenced and probably created after someone read the manga or saw the show. Actually this is crappier Elfen Lied. For kids.
Bodies split in half, blood, theatrical breakdowns where the main character screams as if in agony and appears to lose his mind every time someone dies. And let's not forget that these witches are all girls who were experimented on from a young age. Add changes of heart in least expected characters, scientists, the main bad guy trying to reincarnate someone from long ago- blah blah blah Elfen Lied (closer to manga actually now that I think of it.)
The characters are actually pretty likeable. No character development whatsoever except on the male lead and on the female lead though. One of the witches is paralyzed except for her left hand which types out words for her which is funny because during sad scenes it goes to everyone's face for their reaction and hers is always the same and luckily they added in the typing sounds consistently. The male lead is very smart but he's not OP in fact he gets his ass kicked and cries all the time.
6/10
TL;DR: If you liked Elfen Lied, you'll like this. Just not nearly as much.

Selector Infected WIXOSS was really good. It was basically the JC Staff version of Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica but don't think that it was a complete ripoff just because that's the way I put it. Really, it shares a lot of aspects (Selectors are all girls just like Magical Girls are all girls of course, they can get wishes granted, can become tainted by their wish, must keep fighting). WIXOSS however is a card game where the girls don't usually lose their lives however some girls suffer fates worse than death. For example one girl's wish was to have friends but when her wish became
...
tainted, not only did she lose the friends she made already but she was also never able to make friends ever again and was put in excruciating pain if anyone being friendly touched her. In WIXOSS, girls who get cards with LRIGs are the Selectors and LRIGs grant wishes but do not tell the full details as to how wishes get granted and we'll leave it at that.
The characters are wonderful. Ruko is a sweet young girl who's shy and cute and likes having fun but clearly has something weird going on with her past because she was given up by her parents and forced to live with her grandmother. Her friend Yuzuki is strong willed, her friend Hitoe is shy but very nice and you just wanna root for her.
The music was great. The opening theme "killy killy Joker" will be stuck in my head for a long time and will go down as one of my favorites. The ending theme had a dark inflection with descending tones. The music of the show was pretty normal.
The animation was just great. It wasn't brightly colored which went along with the subliminal dark theme of the show. The fighting between the LRIGs was very fluent and cool.
In the show you'll see things like bullying, incest, heartbreak, near mental breakdowns. It's all good stuff. The only problem I'd say is that it's not emotional enough. It didn't pull the heart strings nearly as much as I'd hoped like Madoka did.
I DO recommend the show though.
