Oh God where to begin.

The 4th season of this series is nothing short of underwhelming, it's not necessarily bad, but it isn't good either. I can't judge the entirety of the season just from the 13 episodes I have watched, however this doesn't mean that I can't critique this either. This season has been stuck on "watching" since MAY 2020, which says ALOT. I tried picking this season up again today, but as you can see, I gave that up immediately.
I think my first mistake might have been reading the manga before this season came out, the first 7 episodes can only be ... described by one word; boring. These episodes are really dialogue heavy and the plot moves slower than a snail that has been drenched in salt. This is a huge problem the series has in general, God knows how long this series will be one day. I can get that there is information the writes want's to give us, the viewers, but come the fuck on.

The main reason i stopped watching was that the whole preparation for the action dragged out so much that when the action arrived I was feeling so unfulfilled that the action was boring aswell. Another issue I have with this season is the fights, I do like shonen so I am used to fights lasting a whole episode, however the fights this season felt like they dragged out for too long. Often long fights should have a meaning behind it, like the characters have an already established turmoil between them. Here the fights don't have that much of an emotional impact to me, and when there is an attempt to make me feel literally anything, I don't. Of course you can have fights without turmoil between the characters, but a fight that builds character. Which is sad because this show has pulled that off excellently already in season 3 when Midoriya fights Muscular. The show tries to do this with Kirishima, but this moment barely left an impression with me.

It is sad to see how mediocre this season was. The thing with boring and mediocre shows is that they are way worse than a bad show. You can laugh and have entertainment come out of bad shows. Boring shows leaves you with nothing.
