Hello visitor,
My name is Perry, a Gen Xer who has been watching anime for forty-five years and counting, having following its history in France closely since the first broadcast of Goldorak (UFO Robo Grendizer) and its undefeated record-breaking audience of 100 %. That was summer 1978.
Fortunately, being fluent in American English, I was not limited to what France had to offer during those times. Now, France is the world's second, most largest market in manga after Japan (obviously), but that was not always the case and manga remained mostly confidential in France until the end of the 90s.
Fortunately (bis), I was already accustomed to "confidentiality" (yeah, let's keep that term) for being also a roleplayer since 1986. And the manga-and-anime shops were not far from the roleplaying boutiques anyway.
Fortunately (ter), I was also into video games and an early adopter of that new thing called "the World Wide Web", which eventually allowed me to pursue my ever-hungry passion for anime.
Add US cinema and shows to the mix (preferably SF, fantasy, fantastic, there-are-only-three-Star-Wars-Movies, etc.) and you get the picture:
TL;DR: "This guy is a geek!"
And so welcome.
