Both series leaves you wanting more and shocked to say the least, but this was a rollercoaster the entire way through. I still don't quite know which side I am rooting for at times.
This anime started weakly as a comparison to what the first series had given us, I understand that they were able to do what they wanted with it since they have left the manga story line, which shows throughout parts as it seemed like they were struggling a bit to convey the emotion. There were also bits which seemed abrupt, but I guess I can't fault them on that since they were
...
only given 12 episodes to work with. I will have to say that this did not go in the direction that I was expecting it to be, there were moments where I thought it would go into a cheesy route, however it continued being quite serious and I thoroughly enjoyed that aspect of it.
It did redeem itself halfway through where there was more development on the characters so that you're let into the story a bit more and honestly some tears started to crawl in at this point. I only wish they had told the back stories earlier on, but even with the short amount it was still very emotional. Honestly, I started off disliking this series a lot because I felt that it did not live up to the standards given with the first series, however it managed to redeem itself. I give it quite a high score because I believe for an anime going off in its own routes is extremely brave and usually is not done well at all and the ending leaves the audience frustrated. This gave me a nice feeling at the end, true it left it on a lot of questions however, for the character development and the fact that they managed on their own, I cannot help but give it an 8 overall.

I know this is not the first review or the last, but this is one of those animes that I think deserves to be explained a little bit more in detail. When I was looking into this myself I thought that the synopsis was a bit vague, so if anyone else feels the same way I hope this will help somewhat.
Honestly with this anime, your first impression is probably accurate. It is a romance- drama type of anime, that actually reminded me a lot of Clannad when I first started it. As we have been told repeatedly since we were children "do not
...
judge a book by its covers" is incredibly important here. I must warn you, that if you decide to watch this anime, you probably should get some tissues ready.
We start of being introduced to the main character Kousei and his friend Tsubaki, it starts of very light as any shoujo anime might. We start to learn a little bit about Kousei and even from the first episode a lot is revealed about his personality which I think factors in majorly to the plot. Although as you continue it does tend to get a little predictable and monotonous, this anime is worth watching, purely for the heart tugging moments. The story is very sweet and heartwarming in its own ironic way, which leaves you balling at the end of a lot of episodes. Personally, this anime could have done with more episodes as I feel 22 did not do the story justice, however more episodes may cause people to stop watching due to its systematical anime ways (I'm sorry if that made no sense, but an example of what I mean would be any typical mahou shoujo or sports series, if that still doesn't make sense, my apologies again).
The art is different and I wasn't entirely sure whether I enjoyed it or not, but I think it worked well with the tempo of the anime. Which nicely leads on to the music, and as for that I think the picture makes it pretty self explanatory. The characters were all easy to like and relatable which is pretty rare to find an anime without at least one annoying character in my opinion. Some things could have been explained better, in a few different areas which is why I gave it a lower score but overall, I enjoyed this series a lot and think it deserves all the attention it got and I hope you found out a little bit more about it and this was helpful in one way or another.

Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica although it is about mahou shoujo's it takes it into a much darker twist, that may not have been expected if you have not read anything about the anime prior.
At first it seems like a typical mahou shoujo anime, where a young girl is discovered by an unknown creature and is talked into being this wonderful model to help save the world from what ever cause. I started watching it believing that it would be another care free, simplistic but enjoyable series. I could not have been more wrong as the anime takes a very dark turn unexpectedly, which in
...
turn both shocks you and makes you want to binge watch the rest. Its a shame that there was only 12 episodes, however I do believe that it was just enough to explain everything without having to drag the show on.
The art style may not be to everyone's taste, however I thought it was extremely unique and thought it was very well done and blended in with the theme of the anime really well.
Overall, I found this anime extremely fun and well unexpected to say the least, I would recommend this to both males and females, as it is not as girly as one would expect it to be. If you're looking for something that has a good twist on a traditional style, then you should definitely try this anime out.

I have just finished watching Karigurashi No Arrietty and I am extremely pleased with it. Like all Ghili films, this has not failed to entertain me and keep me satisfied throughout.
As usual, the artwork that Ghibli brings out is beautiful and absolutely flawless. The story-line, although, possibly being a little simple for older audiences, was still extremely enjoyable and did not lack an value at the moral of the story. It had a magically heartwarming ending, leaving it to the viewers imagination of what would happen after.
There is also a lot of empathy with the Little People throughout the film, as you watch what
...
they have to do in order to survive (although he is not in it all that much, my favourite character was Spiller). This film also goes to show that there is two sides to everything and that not everything is as it seems, suggesting if you look further, you may find a surprise hiding.
Overall, this was a wonderful 130 minutes or so, I would recommend it to anyone who wants to watch a really beautiful and enjoyable movie. Regardless of your age, I think that this will make you smile.
I hope that this review helps someone decide to watch Arrietty, because honestly, it was amazing for me.
