This manga has me debating whether or not I should read the raws and start to learn Japanese lol. 91 Chapters in and I'm definitely going to finish when it's all translated. The Fable takes no time in getting you hooked on Satou's dark and somewhat innocent existence.
Story: 8
The initial hook of the story is extremely strong, it's a very original take on hitman/gangster manga that leaves a lot of room for great comedy as well as thrilling Yakuza fighting. The B plots are generally not as entertaining as whatever Fable is up to, but it's a necessary exposition to get the story where it
...
needs to go. All in all very little to complain about
Art: 8
The art for me is a huge plus, but I could see the crudeness of it being hard to get into for a larger audience. There's something about the character faces specifically that just evoke such a wide range of emotions. The backgrounds are sparse, but the characters hold your attention plenty.
Character: 9
Satou (Fable)'s design and story are the main draw for the manga and the driver/sister offers a great addition to Fables straight man architype. The Okinawa Yakuza offer an endless cast of sopranos esque characters and the mysterious organization that hires Fable is a great mystery box cherry on top.
Enjoyment: 10
I'm a sucker for Seinen and I.E. Berserk and Vagabond, so Fable's darker subjects really keep me engaged enough to genuinely enjoy the humorous side of it. I find myself cackling so loud that I'm worried I'll wake my roommates. I think I blew through the currently 91 translated chapters of it in under 2 days.
Overall: 9
The Fable is something I'm recommending to all of my friends and to the people of Myanimelist as well. Manga like this, that are only now getting fully translated, make me so curious about what else has yet to transition to an english reading audience.
