Regalia, is, for the most part a story about the teenage queen of a country that is assaulted by the queen of another country and her team that can utilize advanced technology in the form of mechas.
If you manage to look past the little girls talking about emotions and who they want to protect... you can see that there are actually some decent fight scenes.
however, the fight scenes and drama represented can't distract me from the fact that Yui, the queen and "leader" of her country can't detect a terrorist assault even after 3 incidents and still walks around the town area without guards or
...
any protection.
Personally, I think that Yui need to declare war on the responsible country and start acting like a leader and utilize the extent of her military power instead of taking the role of a single protector, and repeating the line "I want to protect the citizens..."
Perhaps, story-wise, the characters in Regalia make sense since there was a 12 year period of peace which made the citizens lax and not used to wars, but when a group of sorts attacks directly inside your own country and tries to steal the country's "last line of defense" while they have already managed to produce more mechs of superior quality without a clear motive, it just drops the likability of the main heroine whose supposed to somehow deal with the mess.
The story so far kinda got me mad so I feel like telling the creator that if Yui and the other government people want to actually preserve the peace - they all need to start acting like they're in a state of war.
4 episodes in, I can't really see how the story and character development can improve from here, so I can't really recommend the show, as also they stopped airing until september...
