The plots are definately different, but the main characters' personalities almost mirror each other. Kyou/Takanari look like they hate the main character, Tohru/Haine, but later on, they come to love her. They are also both characters that try to act cool. Tohru and Haine are very clumsy, kind characters, that can make friends with a lot of people. I also think they look a lot like each other. :P
