OM NOM NOM!!!
Ah Soul Eater! One of the most popular anime series to date. With 51 episodes filled with action, betrayal, humor, mystery, horror, filler, and death, Soul Eater has everything you'd want in a Shounen anime, and more. If your looking for a review from someone who just finished the series, you've come to the right place! Sit back and enjoy!
The story for Soul Eater is nicely done in my opinion. It has plenty of filler episodes explaining the back story of the characters more. Some may find filler to be annoying, but the filler in Soul Eater is extremely entertaining, and helpful lore
...
wise. The character development is great as well. You get to explore the backstory of all characters a little more every episode. Even the side characters are put together relatively well. There are a few minor plot holes, but nothing really big. Overall the story is put together nicely.
Going into Soul Eater I honestly have to say I was a bit...worried, one could say. The first thing I instantly noticed was the animation. Soul Eater defiantly has more of a North American "style" of artwork then most. When watching anime animation is a huge factor for me personally. Some may disagree, but if you're all about the aesthetics then you'll definitely notice the change of style Soul Eater has. Although the animation may look a bit strange compared to others, trust me, you'll definitely grow to like or even love it overtime.
The reason why the animation is easy to grasp onto is because it gives each and every character a distinguishing trait you'll always recognise then by. For example, take Maka's plain green eyes, or Deaths mask. Some of these little details give the characters more of a recognisable personality trait, which I quite enjoyed.
As for sound I honestly have to say it was what made me stick past the first episode. The music is very enjoyable, and voice acting is surprisingly extremely well done. The sound quality was enough to make me love the series instantly. Although the music is well done (I've even downloaded some of the OST's) I have to say that the voice acting is what sells it's sound quality. I absolutely loved the voice actors in this series, as they essentially gave their character a personality. It's obvious that each voice actor put extreme effort into their character.
As for my recommendations for watching this anime subbed or dubbed, I would say watch it subbed. The dub is pretty decent, but the sub gives the characters a lot more of a personality. I'm not saying that the dub doesn't do this as well, but the sub does it a lot better. I haven't completed the series dubbed, but I can say that the sub is better in quality.
One of the issues I had with Soul Eater though was it's ending. Don't worry, I won't give spoilsies about it, but it is extremely fast pasted. You never really get to see what happens after the last fight. It instantly cuts off and ends. I cringed a bit at this, but it was one of the only things I really disliked about this series.
Well...I think that covers it all, or most of it at least. With that being said, I hope you've enjoyed, or found this somewhat helpful. I'm no professional, but I hope I helped a bit. Thanks for the read!

Higurashi no Naku Koro ni is by far one of my favorite series to date. It has everything enjoyable you could ask from a horror series packed into a sweet little bundle of joy, topped with a nice ribbon. This series never manages to disappoint.
Higurashi does that thing, that trick, where it starts of easy, peaceful, simple, heartwarming, and calm but instantly changes when the smallest mistake happens. It can go from sweet and innocent, to the most unexpected, horrific, gore-filled, disastrous outcome you could possibly think of in less then 15 minutes.
Higurashi reminds me a lot of a RPG in the sense that the
...
smallest thing always changes the whole outcome of the story. Higurash has multiple story arks in the series, resetting from the very start everytime the inevitable bloodbath of all our beloved characters takes place, usually ending the current story ark. If you take the RPG example again, and factor it into the scenario, it's essentially like starting a new game and trying to get a new ending. The start is always the same, but the events change, always leaving you asking, "I wonder who's going to got bat-s**t crazy this time around."
Higurashi is by far one of the most gory, stomach twisting series I've seen. If someone told you otherwise...you're sadly mistaken. Even if you go into in preparing yourself for the worst, you'll never see anything coming when it does. It leaves you in the dark until the perfect moment arises. It never fails to surprise.
As for animation, Higurashi has relatively decent animation but nothing to spectacular. Compared to other anime realised in 2006 (take Death Note for example) it doesn't exactly match in quality. I'm not saying the animation is awful, it's not, but it doesn't look as good as some others. It has its moments, but it's nothing to special, but it's not bad.
The sound in Higurashi though is considerably better. It's been a few months since I finished both season one, and two, so my memory is a little murky, but the soundtracks I remembered where very nicely done. They always fit perfectly with the current situation and setting, which is always a major "make it, or break it" factor for things like horror/mystery series like this.
And lastly, voice acting. The voice acting for Higurashi is also very nicely done. The actors all portrayed their characters and situations well. No complaints on that part.
Well, I think that concludes my full review of Higurashi no Naku Koro ni. I hope you found this somewhat helpful and enjoyable! ^^

Ah...Death Note. Where do I begin?
Death Note, as you'll hear by most who have seen the series, is greatly known as one of the best anime series out there, and possibly of all time, and it certainly earns such a title.
Why might you ask? One could argue it's because of it's astonishing artwork, others may say it's because of it's amazing soundtrack. All are true of course, but the reason why Death Note has the reputation it does, is because of it's amazing story ark. Death Note is essentially one gigantic "Cat and Mouse game" as most people refer to it as. But
...
you never know who is the cat, and who is the mouse.
Death Note has this "thing" that it does. It's always forcing you to the edge of your seat, pretty literally. It's inarguably why so much people enjoy it. Within the span of the first few episodes you are able to see the true power Light has found. The power of the notebook.
As for things such as sound, animation, (ext) it's all extremely well done. As cliche as it may sound, it's true. Take in mind while watching Death Note that it was created 8 years ago. That is all I should have to say, but the animation is truly beautiful. Even compared to anime today it still looks better then most. If your concerned about animation seeing as it's "old", don't be.
The sound tracks for Death Note are very nice as well. Some might even say to nice, to the point it can be a little surprising, to say the least. If you take the time and listen to the OST's you'll fall in love with them.
As for character development, once again phenomenal. Death Note really doesn't leave any plotholes at all. The character development, even for minor characters, is extremely well done. The character development in Death Note is very nice, letting you form bonds with characters quickly.
The only thing I seriously disliked about Death Note was the ending. I am not going to discuss it much, as I hate receiving and giving out spoilsies, but it is the only thing in the whole series I'm disappointed about. Rather then that Death Note is almost as close to perfect as any anime series could get.
On a final note, I would seriously recommend watching Death Note DUBBED, not subbed. Even if you are a dedicated fan of watching anime subbed everyone (or most people) will agree watching it dubbed. The dub for Death Note is FAR superior then the sub in everyway. If you wish to watch Death Note subbed, so it AFTER you see it dubbed.
So there you have it, my full review on Death Note. I hope everyone found this helpful, although I'm positive there are hundreds of others like this out there.
TEAM KIRA!!! ~\(≧▽≦)/~
