5.5/10 ~ Great intro... then just nothing
Zom 100 is a show that really makes me mad and honestly is a bit of a prime example with some of the problems the industry has right now. So much anime comes out regularly now that trying to find anything good really feels like a diamond in the rough, with some exceptions like Frieren or something that so occasionally gets hype and deserves it. Most people do the 1-3 episode test, most I find only doing one episode, if it doesn't grab the attention immediately then they will drop it. So now its not to uncommon to have
...
an amazing 1st episode or two then the quality, production and care is just dropped from so many shows, Zom 100 included. The 1st ep or 2 was very good, landing somewhere between a 8/10 and 8.5/10 which is very high. But after a few ep the quality, just went straight downhill and it just got old. Honestly the best thing about Zom 100 was the use of coloring and lighting effects in the first episode, that quickly became a backdrop after about 3 ep. All the charecters are just kinda bland or characters, and it feels like a cheep Zombieland ripoff after a while.
Pretty disappointed personally, but it wasn't so horrible I couldn't finish it.

8.25/10 ~ A weird love letter to Gundam
GQUX is by far the largest split of the fan base Gundam has ever had. I am a relative newcomer to Gundam as I started watching during the time of Witch, but I have since have watched nearly everything that Gundam has to offer which weirdly puts me in a bit of a minority as most Gundam fans have watched barely 1/2 of what is all of Gundam. Looking back No one liked Zerta, then ZZ then F91, then No one liked Turn A, then Wing, then Seed, then Unicorn, then IBO and Finally no one liked witch.
...
And here we are, history repeating itself, Anything changes from the mech designs to the formula, no one is happy. As said newcomer I do not have the distorted eyes of nostalgia, I see what Gundam and all of its complicated mess for what it is and I have to say GQUX is probably one of the best Gundam has to offer if not for a few clear glaring problems.
If you go and start with the Beginning Movie, you will immediately notice that the show is so much faster paced because they cut as much content that is humanly possible to fit the show into this seemingly arbitrary 12 episode 23 min runtime and it realty suffers for it. This show could have easily been 18, 23 or even 40+ episodes with the exact same story if it really wanted, I personally think just having the standard 18-25 episode runtime or even taken the formula of old and put into a larger OVA format would have done wounders for the pacing of the show.
GQUX also disguises itself as a standalone show where it seemed to be advertised and talked about as it was first coming out, especially in theaters here in the west, as something that was good for newcomers. For people who have seen nothing and people who have seen everything alike. Similar to my thoughts on Unicorn, I could not disagree more. GQUX is a love letter to 0079 and with my personal opinion that is a mandatory watch before watching this, there is far too much that the show assumes you understands and does not really explain well enough. I would like to also add that tho this is more or less a direct sequel to 0079, it is a soft sequel to 'Char's Counter Attack' as it makes plenty of reverences to Zeta, ZZ and CCA, all of which are pretty small and almost just cameos. But nearly everything, especially everything from about ep 9-12 you should really watch 0079 to understand, or atleast interpret as its all kinda jarring and up for interpretation. This show also makes clear nod to Unicorn and Turn A which was Fun to see. (And yes Evangelion, which takes complete homage to Gundam as a whole, love seeing that go full circle)
My smaller gripe is how unnecessary the fanservice is, especially when they so clearly cut so much of the fat from each episode, but decided to keep this in. I understand that literally every Gundam show and movie has atleast a little fanserivce... this shows was a bit excessive and jarring at some moments... weirdly not out of place, just hard to recommend to anyone lol
So as a deep enfranchised Gundam person at this point in my life, I think GQUX was a fantastic show, a love letter to Gundam as a whole, especially for the UC timeline and everything that is the newtype-bullshit that we all love so much. To me I put this just bellow Origins as #1, and right above a 3 way tie for now 3rd place of: Iron Blooded orphans, Unicorn and the Witch from mercury Prolog.
This show is pretty hard to recommend as I said above that I believe you NEED to watch the original show: Mobile Suite Gundam 0079, as a prerequisite just to understand what is going on past cute girls are fighting in kool robits lol, AND you need to watch 2 separate 40+ episode shows and a Featured movie (Zeta, ZZ and CCA) to fully appreciate everything GQUX has to offer. With all that in mind, I give this a 8.25/10 which is very high rating for me, so if you can sit through all of that, then you hopefully will enjoy your time here. I wish you luck on your Gundam journey if you are just starting.
Cheers.

7.75/10 ~ Wild trip, not for the feint of heart
whollyfuckingshit this was quite the ride of the show, especially by 2025 standards, I really dont think something like this would even be made today. I decided to to rewatch this as I didnt remember what happened from 20+ years ago, and I came to realize I never watched it in its entirety. NTHT is just a wild show including but not limited to:
✅Child murder/Murdering children
✅Sexual assault / Straight up rape to make child soldiers
✅full blown PTSD and total psychosis
✅full blown animal abuse
✅full blown manipulation of the masses, and gaslighting oneself / each other to
...
continue the cycle above
- All mixed together with you very traditional 80/90's MC that refuses to kill, is obnoxious as hell and hes like 12yo boy who is just a self insert character, and a very light touch of Mecha and magical girls
- Honestly this is one step away from just the plot of a gundam show but its so much darker/edgy then that.
The first few episodes are really rough and make you believe that this is a show for children/young teens, especially from the Shu prospective and when you realize that the English VA cast is a bit of a whos who from the 90's and early 2000's. But not to far in, one of the Main Characters just straight up gets bred and the MC get just actually tortured... and it just continuedly gets darker and darker the further you go into the story. Over all I think this does the whole, 'Killing is bad, war solves nothing, be happy and life your life to its fullest', message pretty well with some serious problems.
- Shu the MC is a terrible character that is a bit of a marrysu when it comes to physical abilities and plot armor
- Lalaru really needed to be expanded on
- the show was way to short and even had a few episodes that were straight up filler, despite needing more room for character growth and world building
- pacing of the show is all over the place
Over all I did enjoy my time with the show, it was really out there and honestly it stood the test of time. Despite this being one of the first anime Isikai's, it really didnt feel like one by todays standards and that is a good thing. Despite me hating the MC and not caring for several of the main cast, the story being told was good enough to keep me going.
Recommendation wise because of the SA, animal / Child abuse its really really hard to recommend this one to most people I know in life. I feel like you need some life exsperiance to really appreciate this one, but most people with such do not like atleast one of the glaring issues they probably will have with it. But this one felt like mashing together the feel of Madoka Magic and Digimon Adventure 01 but putting it in the setting of Season 1 part 1 of Gundam IBO with less emphasis on the mechs.

5.5/10 ~ Just more of the same
This anime just felt safe, they did almost the exact same thing and honestly it got a bit boring tbh. Next to no character development or world building pas one of the last scenes of the final episode which more or less left this on a cliff hanger.
It was quite funny to watch them incorporate Fortnight / Real modern Battle royal mechanics to the show like a shrinking map... but fortnight was already popular when the 1st season came out so honestly it made no sense that was not a mechanic in the 1st season.
One of the more
...
interesting plot points was Pito using the nerve gear to play GGO and the clear implications with that, just completely glossed over. Instead the only thing we get for world building on this front was the absolute glazing of Kirto in a Kameo, and a absolutely not necessary etchi scene where we get to see the hot characters nude... great lol 🙄
But at the end of the day we are here for cute girls being absolute psychopaths, Gurlz W/Gunz if you will. And if you enjoyed season 1, you will forsure enjoy season 2. I just wish there was more substance. Shame.

6.0/10 ~ Best thing that ever came out of SAO
I remember going to Japan in 2018 and it was crazy how much this show was being advertised as it was just airing or about to air, I ended up watching this right after the conclusion of the series and decided to rewatch this as I forgot most of what happened when I booted up season 2 today, which... says a bit that I coudlnt remember much past ' Pink bunny girl is fast and pew pew', after finishing this season for a 2nd time, I foolishly went through and rewatched SAOII, atleast the first 15
...
ep that ft GGO, and wow was this a complete step up from SAO lmfao.
GGO probably because it lacks Kirito, Harems, and Incest, is probably the best thing that came out of the SAO franchise, with Accel world being probably a 2nd best, but anime wise was never complete and is just left on a cliff hanger, and a honorable mention to BOFURI being an honorary SAO spin off as it is so clearly inspired by SAO/GGO.
GGO has enjoyable characters, is funny and tackles some deeper topics, even if it doesn't do quite a great job at it. It knows what it is and want to be and is just that, which I do appreciate to some extent. As a life long gamer with many fellow female gamers since the early 2000's, I really felt the nostagia of how girls both got treated online and how they tent to be either the best or the most casual of players around.
Lynn like her portage Maple really be doing the Moe', cute girls doing cute things in an action packed adventure while being stupidly impressive at their one thing, and honestly I am all about it.
I just wish the show had a little more depth, was a little bit better written and the IRL aspects were more emotional and not just felt like large parts of the script were cut out to save time... shame
I would recommend this one to anyone that enjoyed BOFURI, Gun slinger girls, Lycoris Rycoil or any Girls with gunz franchises, or if you just really enjoyed SAO season 2 part 1. If you are new I would recommend:
reading/watching a synopsis of SAO S1+2, maybe a high light real, then watching this, trust me the 20 or so minute investment will make the little depth of the show actually land a bit and the jokes hit a bit harder.

4.5/10 ~ its neither as bad as they say or the hype it originally had...
Honestly I feel like SAO is just the gold standard of how seasonal anime wants to be these days. Kirito, Nerv Gear, SAO, Being Trapped inside a video game but somehow still an Isikai... all of these things are just so woven in to anime these days its so weird to go back and watch what it came from. I decided to watch GGOA:S2 and within the first 5 min I realized I did not remember anything from S1, then I watched S1 again and realized that the gurl with the
...
lightsaber was mentioned but missing, so I looked it up and completely forgot that that was a spin off of SAO, so I rewatched this just to go revisit the past and honestly the only thing good imo that came out of SAO, Gun gale online. The spin off series 'Alternative' is much much better, but honestly I wish they split this into 2x season where its the initial 15 episodes or so as GGO and then a 2nd season of going back to fairytale land with his harem and incest (the worst parts of SAO), I remember watching SAOII when it was live and thinking... man this shit is so much better I wish they would just expand on it, which they did and I was baffled, and with out kirito, a very not great character. But Part 1 of this season had very little harem or incest... so that was neat.
Its so hard to recommend SAO at this part in time because it has one of the strongest starts of any anime, especially for the time in Season 1 and then falls off hard through bad writing and bad tropes.
But if there was a direction it would be:
Watch episode 1+2 of season 1 --> Look up a synopsis of Season 1+2 (and watch a highlight real) --> Then:
- Watch Season 3,4, 4p2 (Alicization is actually not bad, you just need to know how we got there)
and or
- Watch SAOA:GGO 1+2
[All movies are skippable]
Thats it, this is the optimal and objective way to enjoy animated SAO, thank you for coming to my ted talk.

7.25/10 ~ Amazing conclusion... but thats about it
Odd taxi was a bit of an odd show (pun intended), poorly animated which I think was a stylistic choice tbh, sound track was barely there, good English VA which is just standard in 2021, The choice of animals at first just seemed very odd, all the character relations and plot was glued together with convince. Honestly the first 4 or so episodes were pretty fucking boring and I turned if off, but I had several recommendations to stick through it because it had a glorious end. As I stuck through it, every 3-4 episodes gradually got better
...
until the last 2-3 episodes where all the pieces started to fit together in this apparent mystery jigsaw puzzle of a show and it really shined. I would rate the last bit a solid 9/10, but where it starts off at a 4/10 its pretty hard to recommend this one.
Its pretty hard to gush about the good bits without giving away all the plot points, but if you enjoy Quentin Tarantino films its kinda like that smashed together with Zootopia. Luckily the run time is short enough for most people to finish this in 1-3 sessions so even if you dont like the begining like me you can just wait a bit and it really really picks up, I promise. I do hope you enjoy it.

6/10 ~ Good start
Funny enough I found Elusive Samurai because I was trying to find ' Blue Eye Samurai' not realizing that was a netflix exclusive. Thinking I was going into a cross dressing revenge story about a samurai... well that made the first few episodes a bit confusing haha.
The first few ep of Elusive were extremely good, with some pretty unique visuals and an interesting story telling. Similar to Vinland Saga where both stories felt like a retelling of the events that transpired, dramatized to stay interesting, describing people with superhuman strength and abilities was a good way to tell a story like
...
this. I also really enjoyed that the MC was just a complete psychopath, at the age of 9 this just makes it even crazier.
The show asks you on too many front, an expectation to enjoy it:
- be somewhat familiar with Japanese history, or atleast interested in it.
-- if you do not enjoy history alot of the plot will immediately be lost on you
- both understand and enjoy classic Japanese comedy / play write.
-- I personally found much of the comedy to either go over my head or just not to be funny. I did not enjoy the presentation which hurt it considerably.
- Japanese modern day culture, and be fine with how ANIME this is.
-- despite this taking place hundreds of years ago, it uses alot of liberty with modern day problems, comparisons and even explaining things to characters with in real world modern comparisons which... was odd to say the least. I know some real history buffs who immensely enjoy Japanese coculture and what not that could not sit through this show because of how 'ANIME' this is, unless you are an omega weeb I cannot see many getting past this.
- if you enjoyed Kingdom, this felt similar ish on many of the episodes
After the first few episodes it was very apparent of how large of a story this was trying to tell and it became increasingly obvious that this was more set up then anything, and could not and was not set up to be stand alone in any capacity, if I was not stuck on a plane I would have turned it off and waited for it to be completed down the line. Very little actually happens after the first few seasons, and honestly becomes very monster of the week formula with the lessons that the MC and his companions learn, bit boring to be honest. The graphics of that first fight you see when the MC is pushed off the cliff is where I felt the entire budget for the season went to get you to watch the show... there is almost none of that at all after the fact, really felt like a cocktease... very disappointing.
I enjoyed the MC a bit, and some of the villains were enjoyable to watch, but the entire rest of the cast was pretty bad...
For me giving this a 6/10 is pretty generous, I may re-evaluate this review when I rewatch the whole show in its entirety when it is concluded.

4.5/10 ~ Tried to tackle too much
The Story of A wind Named Amnesia was a very large scope of what could be, broken down into a very simple story of our Gigachad protag Wataru who certainly fucks.
This story tried to tackle the what if everyone all of a sudden just forgot everything but their primal instincts, like wearing their clothing for years on end. Taken place in a not so distant future that has gone awry, that seems ripped straight from Atlas shrugged, hell they even visit the a place that seems like Galt's Gulch. But there are AI that can continue doing their
...
work years into the future like Wally, But there are also super humans, and Aliens? all too much scope if you asked me.
The pacing, story boarding, character writing, English voice acting, and general animation were all pretty bad even for its time, Tho I always enjoy some hand animated works with a 80's feel.
I really wanted to like this one, but atleast we got a 0:02 sex scene with the hot white haired anime lady.

5.5/10 ~ Let down and mess of a show
I finally got around to watching Izetta, originally getting captivated by the premise of the story of a post WW1 Europe getting invaded by Nazi Germany with overwhelming technology and strategy, as what is essentially Hydra discovers that magic is real and it can be used to take over the world. But the last of the magic from the old world is connected to a feisty little which that will ride an anti-tank rifle like a broom. Something this silly could only be done right in anime and honestly the show had the makings of being quite
...
good.
But you start to watch the show and realize that its riddled with boring characters, poor story telling, pretty bad English VA, far too much fan service and general cringe ' animess' , and its just rushed at the end and you get Izetta the Last witch.
This show had some good movements, and a very real take on how people would react to having magic, especially the parts with the propaganda campaign I thought was done pretty well. Alot of the general history details were also quite refreshing down to all in universe video was horrible black and white film.
Its always so perplexing when stuff like this comes out that have really good bones for a great story and just botch the job and make something that isnt really for anyone and just kinda flops. The fact that this almost has a 7/10 rating here on MAL in 2025 is kinda wild, but hey people in general think 7/10 is average so take that with a grain of salt.
