TLDR: Wasted premise.
I was excited by the premise of the show initially. I wasn't familiar with the games but I thought that music would play a much larger role in the action than I found in the show. At many points, I wondered why the Musicarts (Pokemon) even have Maestros (Pokemon Masters). At one point we even see a girl straight out of a fantasy anime with a sword and shield, not even being controlled by a Maestro, so what even is the point?
Would it not be better if the weapons and characters had some sort of musical theme? For instance the main chick is

Nobody I know understands the story now. The sanctuary arc has taken so long and has so much exposition that there is no room for enjoyment.
Story is supposed to be the strong point of this anime series but if no one can follow it then all thats left is mediocre animation, and bad action. The story is confusing, the main plot of saving Rem has taken a back seat to characters that are annoying and I don't care about. Even the relationship between Subaru and Emilia has taken a weird turn into unhealthy obsession which I find creepy. I felt that this stagnation started in part ... |
